Looking to get the old classic Austin Mini, been wanting to get one for a few years, but didn't really know much about them. (and to be quite honest, I still don't)

So does anyone have a clue as to where I could get one of these babies, looking to keep the price under $6000. (Going to have to sell my Zed first) So any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I can import an 80s (mostly 88-89) Rover Mini from Japan, most are right hand drive though. $6000 is a very good budget. Most are around $4000-4500 imported to Vancouver.

My exporter has a couple in stock right now:

Any pics of what the J-specs look like? What are the differences between J-spec, and European versions?

EDIT: Also the RHD doesn't bother me at all... kinda cool.

Here's one for instance:

I wouldn't recommend this one, it needs a little bit of work and it's an automatic. The price for this one is $3700 gst in, landed in Vancouver, shipping to Alberta is an extra $300. But it gives you an idea of the way they were sold in Japan. Alot of them had air conditioning there.

There are a couple at auction today, but only one is 4 speed:

They are common in Japan and are dirt cheap, $5000 would cover most of them. Japan domestic vehicles are typically low kilometer, so its likely that you can pick one up with less than 100,000 kms.

Thanks for letting me know all the info, I'm probably going to go through you guys for sure to get a mini now. I just need to sell my 300ZX first, and then once I have the cash, I'll talk to you about getting a mini.

When it comes from BC, can I get it to come to Calgary? What is needed to get it registered here? How much will that cost me on top of the price of the car?

You need to get a passing out-of-province inspection performed ($100-200 depending on where you go). Then you can just register it like any other vehicle.

Shipping to Calgary from Vancouver is around $300. You don't have to pick it up in Vancouver if you don't want to.
