Buying a new impreza... need help

Heya guys..

Im looking at buying an Impreza.. Im going to look at one this weekend. Its a "97 Impreza 2.2 2 door coupe with... get this 250,000kms

is this too much....??????

the guy wants $3700cdn.

what do you say? are these cars built to last

thats a pretty good deal. mileage is a little high.. make sure the previous owner has maintenance records for the major items.. timing belt, thermostat, tranny fluid..etc

You should look at CONDITION not mileage.

Why do people assume that mileage will tell anything usefull about a car? It MIGHT, but condition is much better indicator.

I've got a car with 300K that's in better shape than new cars with 40K.


I think the myth of mileage started because people are too lazy (or stupid more likely) to see what's wrong with a car. If you can't tell, take it to a mechanic. The only way to buy a car is 1) Price 2) Condition (Ie if you can afford it, take it to a mechanic, if you like it after that, buy it, simple).

look for leaks, rust, dents, make sure all the power options work, including a/c and heat. and btw is this a 2.5rs?

ya sorry guys... its a 97 2.5

i went to take a look at it and feel in love with it... it may have high kms but everything looks sweet... no rust, no leaks, no body damage.. nothing... my dad and i gave it a dirve and its soo smooth :) clutch might have to be replaced in the next few months... its a little tight.

i bought it for $$3200

EJ25 engine?
check the headgasket. twice.

coolant problems and headgaskets seem to be the reigning issue of the EJ25 engine (Phase 1 and Phase 2).

im soo happy, ive wanted a scoobie for 2 years now.. and i finally got one..


So now that i have my new baby... i need to trick it out...
i live in toronto canada... anyone know a canadian parts dealer for the impreza's.. or should i just get the parts from the dealer??
do dealers sell the STI parts??? or do i have to order them from rallitek

Im looking at picking up an Intake.. and i would like to swap the hood of the car... it comes with the basic (no scoop/intake slots). I would like to put one of the scoop hoods on my car... can i get this from the dealer???

im sure they fit the "97

if anyone of you know a parts dealer in canada let me know please..

Oh ya one last thing... Im doing a full tune up on the car in the next few days... i was wondering what kind of oil should i use in my Impreza?? is there anything that you guys would reccommend??
