hopefully you can beat it, I got a 73 in a 50 zone (seriously was going only 55) so I fought it, I had no proof but it was bumped down from 23 over and 3 demerits to 15 over and 2 demerits. So if you have some proof, you should be good to go:thumbsup:

I almost got busted there cruising along at 80--damn cop hides very nicely. LEDs were blinking away, V1 was going nuts, and saved by the blinder twins! :D

I got mine done and beat my ticket. Faulty speedometer fine $103 compared to speeding ticket $150 plus 3 demerits. Good luck!!

I'm still waiting to hear back on mine... my speedo is off 2%. So I'll probably get the $103 fine as well... damnit... too many tickets this year....

buh_buh
10-24-2002, 02:28 PM
yeah, I'm hoping mine's going to be more than 2% off since I'm running the wrong size tires for my rims.:D

hmmm, how does that work?

2% over 50Km/h is still only 51kmph. your speedo would have to be 40% off to hit 70kmph.

If your speedo is off, technically the recorded speed the cop wrote down will be different than the actual speed! And in court, everything must be precise and accurate, 1km/h off could result in your ticket getting thrown out! Just like how if the cop writes down your name wrong on the ticket or the wrong date or anything wrong for that matter!

yeah my bro (not aboveandbeyond) got a $2500 ticket thrown out because the cop didn't know the date..he put it as december of 2002 when it was december of 2001...it was great!

Another good reason to debadge!
I don't think the same rules apply to parking tix.... The meterbitches/parking authority goes by your plate. Same thing happened to me (parking ticket w/wrong car model on it) and they didn't do anything about it:thumbsdow

The majority of speedos are off when they come from the factory anyway... the guy at Mr. Speedometer told me car companies do that on purpose.

yup that's true, and the higher speeds you go the more innaccurate they are, usually slower than what it reads. i'm not sure of the reason.

I think you need to be certified by the province (or something like that) in order for your test to stand up in court. At Mr. Speedo it costs about $50.

Where was this ticket given? Maximum Ticket that can be imposed unter the HTA in Alberta is 1000 dollars. Other fines can/are given on a per-person basis in court, but not on the ticket. For example, 80 over the limit is roughly 600 bucks 6 demerits and a big ass suspension. So A 2500 dollar ticket would have to be pretty insane!

Most likely for driving a vehicle without insurance, which is a $2500 dollar fine (although I heard it was raised to 3500 now...?)
