i am trying to put together a killer system.....the subs i am looking at are HRWDC12 rated at 1000 watts rms @ 4 ohms......should the amp run at the same ohm rating? or can / should run at a different rating? or simply put...should 4 ohm subs be pushed by 4 ohm amp?

those subs are DUAL 4 ohm Voice Coils....
so the amp will see 8 ohms or 2ohms for one driver...
and
if you are running two drivers the amp will see 4 ohms or 1 ohm.
the impedence totally depends on how you wire these subs up...

good luck with your system!

You need a AMP- that is capable of running a sub at the OHMS you are wiring it to, 99% of amps will do 4, and the newer the amp the more likely it will do less 2,1,1/2, down to a 1/4 ohm but then you are looking at spending mega bucks, Generally as with anything YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, My PPI Ax400 that i have had for 8 years, would blow away alot of the higher rated (lower Priced) amps today, but I paid over 1000 dollars for it.

I Like PPI, Soundstream, US accoustics (sp??) JL, and belive it or not, LANZAR
