I know this should be in food and dining, but I think the hardcore fitness gurus on the forum might be have a better answer :D

$17.63 for a pack of 7 chicken breasts at Costco is too much, because I'm trying to eat one per day to get my protein in.
Anywhere else in the city that sells them for cheaper?

you wont find chichen cheap right now because of the bird disease thing that forced the slaughter of a bunch of birds.

I remember seeing IGA/Sobeys with a bag of frozen Lilydale chicken for about $10 and there are at least 8 pieces in there.

I just found this out myself
a box of chicken (8-12) pieces for $16.00
great place to save money on food.

I get mine at Superstore (I know, same thing), 4KG for $30-31.

Minimum 16g of protein/100g of chicken.

I get the 4KG box of chicken breast at Costco. I know there are more than 7 pieces in it (I just ate 5 breasts haha). I don't remember how much it costs though. The 2KG cans of Tuna are a good deal as well. If you want the smaller cans of tuna hit up Wal-mart when they're advertised for 88 cents.

Chicken Breasts are great but I definetely prefer Lean Ground Beef.

I wonder what the cost comparisons are, they are definetely two of the best protein-fat-carb ratio foods out there.

The two aren't comparable because the lean ground beef will have quite a bit more fat than the chicken still.....

If you like ground beef...try lean ground turkey....when you cook it up its like beef but without the fat and probably more protein.

a 100g chicken breast has about 7 grams of fat, and 100g of extra lean ground beef has between 7 to 10 grams of fat. The fat in chicken breast is far more likely to be retained in the piece after cooking than ground beef which tends to drain as it cooks, so when comparing the two cooked, you're likely looking at about the same fat content.

And if you subscribe to the Atkins type diets, it doesn't really matter anyways

Oh and for chicken breasts, I usually buy the flash frozen boneless/skinless ones at Sobeys or Superstore.

Where are the 4KG bags? I'm getting the 2KG for about 18-21.00 and they have 21g of protein minimum.

I thought the difference was a bit more - but I was probably thinking of beef that wasn't lean....

They come in a box - I just find mine at the back of the store....

Is that 21g of protein/100g serving though, or per breast?

theres an other problem, some chicken breasts have bones and some dont, and some have no skin on while some do, and with all the bones and fat, its just more weight on the package so you have to look into that also

21g/100g

They are the club pack which is in a yellow packaging. Pretty much no-name brand. Gotta get the ones that are unseasoned, just plain.. They have the most protein.. Then just add hot sauce or Ms. Dash.
