View Full Version : What color bumper?

I just picked up a new front bumper cover for my 300zx. The bumper is essentially the same, but has an air duct in it. Right now the car is red with black accents. I always thought that if the entire car was red, it would look alot cleaner.
So should I paint this new bumper red and black, just like stock? or should I paint the bumper all red?

Any opinions are appreciated.
Here are some pics of what the car looks like now.
Maybe someone could try photo choping it so that the black bumpers, mirrors and spoiler are red? It would be much appreciated.

All red is what I am leaning towards.
Thanks for the input.

My only concern is that the rear has black accents too so if the front is all red, it may look out of place with the black in the rear.
Any thoughts?

Well the best plan is to do a step process to obtain the look you really want. Paint the front red first then when your budget allows, paint the rear as well...

Good call.
I think I am gonna paint the front bumper, front lip and mirrors red so they match, and then possibly look at painting the rear end later on.

Well it certainly seems unanimous...I'd paint it all red too...the black is alright but doesn't look as slick as it would with all red. The black on the bumper just stops abruptly when it butts up against the ajoining panels. Looks kinda wonky to me...I wish you luck!

And if you'll paint the bumpers all red...I'd want to paint the rear spoiler red too..just my opinion...

Bumpers, mirrors, everything... RED!

You'll love it with the one colour scheme for sure man. Good luck with everything, and also if you don't mind my asking... where abouts are you going to get all this done at?

I do all the work myself.
I have just finished sanding and priming the new bumper. I should have the bumper painted, clear coated and installed by the weekend ... I hope.

I will probably paint the mirrors too while I'm at it. The car looks too narrow right now IMO, so I am hoping that painting them red will improve the look.

maybe some 35mm spacers will help with the narrow ness.

Are you talking about wheel spacers?
I was going to get some because my wheels are set in too far for my liking, but my wheel studs are just too short so I would have to replace those, and that is a shit load of work.

I've been doing other stuff to the car so the bumper has kind of gone on hold
but it should be painted in a few days if everything else goes well.
Here's the progress so far:

Finally done.
I like how it looks now, but I would really like to paint the mirrors, rear spoiler and rear bumper so that it all matches.

Nice! That takes YEARS off the car. Complete the colour change, and it'll look 10 years newer. I hate black trim, it should all be colour matched.
What line of paint are you shooting?
