Im currently looking for a new m3 about 2000-2002 , I was just wondering if anyone knew good places to find them cheaper than the dealership around the mid 50's range... Thanks . Yes ive done some searches but it all seems like dealership cars with 6000km on them =P.

Did you try www.canadatrader.com?
There is no 2000 M3..
I guess you mean the E46 M3 ?
If your budget is like only mid $50K .. you probaby need to search the Ontario or Qubec website .. or try the US market ( around $ 40K us for a 2001 with say 40,000 miles)
There was one I found in Vanvcouver last december but ... YELLOW ! :( 2001 with 70,000km on it .. and for only $58,000 ... but other then that .. I never see any newer M3 go lower then $60K mark .. with tax.

Good luck ! I will buy one.. if there is one under $60K as well ! :D
Anyway, will be a good upgrade form your STi !

It's going to be hard to find one in your price range though. My friends dad was looking for one in that price range last year for the longest time but he ended up paying over 60 g's for a 2002. I think he actually bought it off someone that was a member on this site before. Good luck.

im not sure if the newest M3's are out yet, but if there not, wait until they are cuz the older m3's price will drop.

Still keeping the STi .... Well mid 50s was like a perfect price , going up a bit is not that big of a deal.

I know you said you checked out the dealerships, but did you see the silver 2001 at Calgary BMW its 58k which is basically in your range and it has only 41,000 km's on it. I went to check it out a few weeks ago, seems pretty solid.

Every M3 has a chance of suffering the dreaded crank bearing failures. The ones with build date of 10/01, 11/01, and 12/01 have a 10x higher chance of failure than any other cars. Nobody knows the exact numbers though, because BMW won't tell.

All blown engines are getting replaced for free under warranty, and engine warranty extended to 8 or 10 years or something. Anyhow, if I were to get an E46 M3, I'd lease it. Let the leasing company take the loss if the engine blows ;).

Joeys? Shit i havnt worked there for a while , you guys need to learn about inheritance , and i dont want to be fuckin flamed for having two cars , get a life , mocking people is for 12 year olds.
I asked for help on finding a car , and Rage2 & m3 for the help.
anyway .. have you look at US market ?
It is good time to buy in US .. still with good exchange rate .. and more selection ..
I did search around, no M3 will go for less then $60 K in western canada .. but around low to mid $40K us, you can get one, which work out to about mid-50K .. and plus whatever shipping etc ..tax u need to !
Still better price then in Canada ! :)

Before getting a US car, check with BMW on warranty. Last thing you want is a E46 M3 with no warranty ;).
JAYMEZ
06-21-2004, 11:41 AM
Lol ya that would suck
Or .. for high $50K to low $60K , you can also consider some Porsche 911 993 or may even a nice Porsche 996 ! will give you M3 performance and sharper handling ! and .. It is a Porsche ! :D
Even some Nice early 996s I found from the East, they go for like around $60,000 plus tax . some are even $59,000 plus tax .. so temp ! but .. just kind of hassale .. and cost extra for shipping, inspection etc... :(

I got some insurance quotes from my broker today.
BMW 330i M performance = $1460/year
BMW M3 = $2588/year
My Accord V6 = $1233/year
M3... not only is the car expensive... so is the insurance!

wow your insurance is expensive...
insurance is only 1.1G more... thats not much. I figure if you can afford to buy the car you can afford maintenance and the insurance, its only an extra $90/month. Get one. I know you are bling.
