For those of you who saw the May 23rd Top Gear episode, the one where they buy 3 beaters and rate them. My question is, how did they get an older Volvo, Audi, & Rover all for under $100 pounds? Or quids as Jeremy likes to say it.

the same way that you can buy a perfect 1990 300zx Twin Turbo with 90k for $4000 in Japan. Their standards are different. Their car taxes and insurance works differently than ours. In Britain those were 100 pound cars. Basically in England those cars wouldnt even be used at a demolition derby, while in Canada they would be awesome daily drivers.

In Canada you can have a rusted up 30 year old piece of shit death trap and the cops wont bother you at all, but if you have a super safe car with a 5 point harness they will bust your ass to hell. Standars are a little different in places like England and Japan.

That's insane. So then you could import a relatively good older model car from Britian for really cheap if you wanted to.
