5000 = kid owned and bagged to death
14000 = middle aged man owned and babied
Camaros (and Mustangs) are tough to buy used unless you know how the owner(s) drove them. The 6 cyl cars are also super cheap (and super slow).

If you can't afford the SS get the Z28 that's a 5 litre. V8
but if you see on the canadatrader that the camaro says RS on it dont' get that because that's a V6 model.... but the best bang for your buck is buying the z28 just buy that and put the BORLA Exhaust system to begin with wow that car will sound awesome..
Also a 5000 camaro can be a V6 camaro
and a 14000 camaro can be an SS that's really babied
suck it up for a 98. 1st year of the LS1.
305s went out with the 92s. Newer than that it's either a 3.8v6, a 5.7 LT1 or a 5.7 Ls1.

try a 5.7L, the ss and z28 both have the same engine (93-97= Lt1, 98+ =Ls1)

only thing you have to watch with the 3rd gen camaro's are there's a 305 and 350 TPI engines, the 350 only came with the 700-R4 automatic transmission. So if you want stick you have to go with the 305(5L).
'87 was the first year for TPI (Tuned-Port Injection), but i would go with a minimum of '88 since that's the year they switched over to serpentine belts. Procharger makes sweet supercharger kits for these cars but only for 88 on, since the belts changed.
Good luck.
