Just another lowcarb product for the atkins sheep. Sucralose (aka splenda) still tastes like ass-pertame.

I prefer an occasional regular Pepsi with a side order of "physical activity" and a regular helping of "well balanced diet".

im gonna try it, they say it tastes the same, so if it does, than why not?

:werd:

You can eat all the low-carb stuff you want, or you could get off your ass and workout.

I'll take a can of "full flavour" coke anyday.

So now there is diet pepsi... 0 calories and 0 carbs
pepsi one--one calorie and 0 carbs
and now Pepsi Edge.. half the everything of pepsi..
if people are really concerned with calories and carbs why wouldn't they just drink the other two? do we need 3 that cater to this???

oh well.. pepsi is just also jumping on the atkins bandwagon. bring on liver and heart disease, etc!

I was wondering when soft drink companies would get around to using sucralose. You think it tastes like aspartame Sputnik? Have you ever tried Splenda or any other sucralose product? Its nothing like aspartame. Its actually made from sugar and it doesn't have that awful aftertaste like aspartame. Aspartame tries to mimic the sweetness of sugar with a synthesized molecule, but it doesn't have the sugar flavour, and I'd argue it doesn't have its sweetness either.

The only problem with sucralose is its expensive to produce which might explain why they sweeten pepsi edge with half sucralose, half sugar :dunno:

When I lived in Ontario, Crush had a few products they were test marketing that were sweetened with Splenda and they were really good - you'd never know it wasn't sugar.

Actually the reasoning behind the Atkins diet is rock solid. Our bodies are designed to convert carbs to energy really easily whereas fats and proteins are much harder to convert to useable energy. Simply by lowering your carbs you reduce the amount of energy your body has available, and bingo you lose weight.

A true atkins diet is still well balanced and still gives you the vitamins and minerals that you need, but it does away with the idea of starving yourself with a vegetable diet that contains mostly carbs. Plus products that cater to low-fat diets tend to have rediculously high carb counts - its no wonder diabetes is becoming so common.

Just because you eat fat, doesn't mean you'll get fat. Your body produces fat from extra energy your body doesn't use so if you're eating a lot of carbs, you'll have a lot of energy available, and boom, you'll get fat.

Those were at epidemic levels long before atkins. And a high carb diet could just as easily cause those as a high fat one.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I don't believe just changing diet creates a healthy lifestyle, the other important factor is excercise of course. The funny thing to me though is everything we're told about dieting before the atkins diet is almost completely contrary to what's said in the atkins diet. For me I can see how the old school of thought can clash with the new but i think whatever you believe will be effective as long as you follow it.

its called exercise...all these fat-fucks are too FAT and lazy to do the one thing that is proven to healthen your body...so they look for the easy way out...that is why north america is falling for atkins
