I have a question for anyone who might know the answer. I drive a 2000 Honda Civic SI-G, does anyone happen to know what the G means?
I have been having problems getting parts for this car. Even the simplest of parts such as an air filter. The stores will tell me that there is no such thing as an SI-G but that's what my car is.
Is this a special model where they're weren't too many made or something or what's the difference between the SI, SI-G and SIR.
HELP PLEASE!:burnout:

si-g is probably just a sticker the dealership put on your car, more likey it is just an si.

Yup, probably just a gimmick, willing to bet it's a normal Si.

I'm pretty sure it's not just a gimmick. I mean when i bought the car my actual bill of sale reads Honda Civic and under model it says SI-G???
There is a guy that posts on here and his "Screen name is" Honda Civic SI-G???
Weird!

Your civic is just an SI with air conditioning. The 'G' was a dealer option package that includes air conditioning.

Really? Sorry as you can probably tell i don't know much about cars but i thought someone on here would know the answer to my question and i was right!
So basically when people ask what type of car it is i should just say a Honda Civic SI cause the G doesn't mean shit?

Pretty much. Your engine code is D16Y8 in case you were wondering.

Btw, welcome to Beyond. :)

Thank you everyone for all your help, you've made my life a lot easier. Why the heck would they add a fricken G on the end just for air conditioning, i guess to confuse people that don't know shit about cars.........like me!
Thanks again.

If you're looking at parts from the US, look for parts for the same year Civic EX. In the US, the Si is the same as a Canadian SiR, which has a different engine than yours.

it's just a sales pitch.

Si-G is supposed to be the highest model of the Si (just an Si with extras such as a sunroof, etc.)

Si parts will fit in your car.

yea i have a 2000 Civic SI-G and the G is just fully loaded. It had the d16y8 engine which is the same as just an SI. same as the U.S Civic EX.

Si=Si-G but not SiR

The "G" in Si-G means Group options package. I think that comprises of Air conditioning, Sunroof, Cruise control, ABS and body colored mirrors (not 100% on the mirrors though). So technically it is more than just an Si, and could be used as a selling point.

I have an SiG, I thought the G stood for Gangsta.
Does this mean I cant lean to the center when I'm driving, and stare people down in traffic anymore...

they are correct, the G is a group option package, on the Si it adds heated mirrors, A/C and ABS...

I just looked on purchase sheet of my car way back in 96, and it lists it as a DX-G, which was a basic DX with power steering, A/C and ABS...

I don't think the heated mirrors came in 96-98 civics though. I have a 96 SiG and it doesn't have heated mirrors. I know the 99-00s had them though.
