first of all, we don't know if "you've got the money".
what's your budget?
a little more detail would help... and use punctuation.

without a budget, and details about what kind of things you are looking for in a car, this thread is useless

25k US?
Your profile says you're in Washington, so let's say that it is.
If you're into the sport compact scene, you could get an rx-7 fd3s with plenty of cash to spare.

"skyline_addict so whats your history with the RX-7"
a new car for that range, the SRT-4 is basically the fastest.

Well you said new car so...
First you need to ask yourself what you want out of a car? Straight line power? Get the SRT-4. Overall track day car that handles well and has decent power? RX-8 or MS Miata are in your price range

SRT-4 has factory warranteed aftermarket support. Spend the extra $4-5K and get an STi.

echo hatch
MSP
mazda3 with the 2.4L
MS miata
srt4
rsx-s
focus svt

buy a vespa and a case of beer...
Or an Acura TL-S, or CL-S. But if this is your first car ($25,000?) get something cheap and use the $20,000 for insurance, and a case of beer.

illeagle likes beer... I sold him his 323 for way more than it was worth by simply including a case of beer. So when shopping for your new car, make a case of beer part of the deal :dunno:

Are you sure? The Cooper S is like mid 30's here. I'd think it's more expensive than $20 k USD.
I went and test drove one with my sister. It's a ballsy little car but I'd hardly call it fast. Would be a nice commuter though.
BTW, STi = ~$32+ USD. Evo = ~$27+ USD
For the record, for $25k USD I'd go SRT-4, Stage 2, exhaust, mounts and DRs (+ Mopar coilovers if $$ allowed). Should be 12's and it'll handle just fine. :D

Mazda 3s do not have a 2.4L, its a actually a 2.3L.
and quick unless you're spelling like a highschool dropout idiot on purpose I would spend that $25,000USD of yours on education instead

i haven't driven a rx-7 fd, but I have the fc. it's a fine piece of machinery minus some mechanical issues (which can be avoided with proper care).
since you want brand new...with 20k.
I suggest an rsx type s.
