Hey guys, did a search on this topic but everything that came up was at least a year old already.

So where can I go these days to get springs installed and for a good (low) price ;) .

Please point me in the right direction! :D

TIA

Chris

DIY, its not as hard as you may have thought. Though, with an older car things can get complicated, like rusted bolts, or seized bushings:banghead: Went through that a month ago, but got it all straightened out with out paying a dime for labor.

It doesn't matter. I had a buddy do a coilover install on my last car that went well. So I'd let another guy do it from his garage.

I just don't wanna spend like $300 or more.....I'm looking to spend maybe $150 around there from a shop or like maybe $100 from a DIY guy in his home garage.

I can install them for you, privately. I have a shop and all the necessary tools (and then some). What are the springs going into? Let me know if your interested.

I want to get my springs and struts installed too. How many hours of labour does it usually take? I heard it takes about 3-4 hours and at $90/hr for a mechanic it is a bit steep.

You drive a Mercedes and buy all those LV pornophernalia and you are complaining that $360 to drop in four coils is too much?

BTW, "fake" is such a strong word to describe these high quality items. Give the girl some credit it is a REPLICA!

yesh impressions wont touch my is300 either...too many things to worry about, ie sway bars, rear hid auto leveller.

talked to stampede lexus and they wanted $550...so if anyone knows of a cheaper place that would rule.

So what's wrong with that? :dunno: Are you saying you've never complained that something is expensive even when you could afford it?

spring install on a RSX is very simple.. anyone with simple tools and a spring compressor can do it. i don't know the specific details with suspension setup on a SLK but i'm willing to bet its a lot more involved... different suspension design, additional sensor, and such. sometimes its better to fork up the money to do it right the first time. the last thing you want is for someone to mess up the suspension having to pay more in the end to fix.

^^Thanks for explaining Roland. I have no clue when it comes to these things. I'm willing to fork out the money. Just didn't want to throw it away but now I know. ;)

Did you try Alpine Autowerks? If I was going to lower my bimmer, that be my first contact. And Roland is right, with regards to Euro, probably more complicated than the RSX.

I suggested hightower for topher since I believe he wants to lower his Del Sol.

Getting jacked on simple installs like springs is for suckers..why not shop around and get a good price? If I was in AB right now I would do them for her pro bono

euro is not that much more difficult. Even if it is inverted susp. just takes a bit more time, but its almost the same.

Shaddup, FOO. buh_buh and I are the king of inverted suspensions!!

It's not always the best thing to pay someone to work on a vehicle. I know and have heard of many Audi B5 owners that have suspension clunking problems after doing a coilover swap. The cause of the problem is due to negligent mechanics who don't follow instructions on bushing preload.

On the other hand, I know of another person that tried to do the swap himself and dropped the car onto the ground when the jack slid out.
