Anyone know where I can get a cheap PC Desktop for around 1000-1500 with a moniter? Already have a top of the line laptop so dont need anything too extreme, just want something to play games on besides my consoles.

Thanks :)

that price can already give u a very good system....... and if u know where to look it could be top of the line for that price.... try looking at private computer stores, none of those big companies like futureshop, bestbuy...etc....

We used them to build our computer and found them very excellent, great customer service etc... They build your computer custom to your needs using all brand name parts, sanyo, lg, etc... Sort of like Dell except Canadian and they have stores in Calgary. There prices are excellent, i will use them to build my laptop come fall for sure!

That is a complete ass system, maybe good for playing Shockwave games. The most expensive piece of hardware on there is probably the CRT monitor, even then it's still crap.

Here's what's wrong with the system:

Celeron (Celery) Processor:
Complete garbage. Don't let the 2.4Ghz fool you into thinking it's fast. I think it still only operates on a 266Mhz FSB. Whatever the FSB speed is, I don't know, and don't care, because that's how shitty it is, just as long as you know Celeron processors are the worst.

Onboard Video:
Don't let that gay ass onboard video name fool you into thinking it's something good, because it's not, complete garbage. Nowadays, a 128mb video card should be the minimum you want for gaming, and they're not that expensive now either. For $300, you can get an ATI Radeon 9800Pro from Futureshop or Bestbuy, mind you that this card still can handle anything you throw at it, as long as you're not gay and compare it to the new 256mb/PCI Express cards that are out.

Ram:
As for the ram, also crap. When buying systems now, you should be looking for at LEAST 512mb of ram. The only thing good about the ram is that it's made by Kingston, but still not better than Corsair.

300W PS:
Pretty much like everything else in the system, it's crap. At least a 350W PS, because once you start plugging in USB, PCI, AGP, etc devices in, the PS's gonna overload and just reboot constantly, or fail to even start up when you turn it on.

PM dogmaiwli. I think he's the guy that runs the computer store. He's offered his services on here a few times.

I look at that price and I start laughing......

There's no way that thing can cost more than $600. Unless the case is fully Aluminum and everything in the case is watercooled.

And most companies offer 2 or 3 years labour warranty now, and some with 2 years on parts as well.

What's so good about this? Right out of the box, the system can be overclocked to 3200+ by 11x200mhz. More if you invest in heatpipe/water cooling.

for the 9550, if you get the 128bit memory bus version, it can be overclock to become a 9600PRO (they share the same core but crippled to a lower clock)

I know some people worries about overclocking but everything I've suggested here is very mild and not hardcore. All these will work right out of the box.
