wrong way to hook up speakers? lol

I really dont know anything about stereos, but ive changed a bunch of speakers without any problems until today lol

I changed the front speakers in my civic and they have the little clippy things on them from the stock speakers, well I just shoved the new speaker wire into the little slots temporarily.

I have NOTHING but a small squeal come from them now lol

if I just flip them around should they work? I cant do it until tommorow night, but just so I know?

cut off the stock connectors and twist the wires together
