View Full Version : need ideas for a new car

In my old age (24) and great wisdom, I have decided that the Stealth is not going to suite the needs of my family. I am getting married in Aug. and we think that we may start having kids in 2-3 years.

So, what kind of car would you beyonders suggest??

criteria
must have four doors.
cannot exceed $40,000
must be 4 years old or less (does not need to be brand new)
has to have some excitement...(not a kia)

I was thinking 2001 BMW 3 series....
any other suggestions?

No offence to Subaru owners, But I think Subaru's are fucking garbage. They are the most overated platform I can think of and I would never own one. No not even an STi. It is a big, fast piece of shit. The EJ20 engine has not impressed me as of yet.

p.s. Please don't hijack my thread now that I have given you some ammunition.:D

Maxima?

Fast, available manual, less than 40K if you are not looking brand new.

Cavalier, You could buy 4 of them and have the excitement of driving a different color everyday;)

i think maxima is awsome. Either that or a jetta wagon TDI. the only real options i think, oh wait, mazda 6 as well. i find that car quite appealing as well.

I know you said it cannot exceed $40,000, but if your willing to go a bit over (which you would have to do for an IS300 as well with options) what do you think of the new Acura TL?

How about a used MB c43 amg? 4.3L v8 300hp and priced under 40K

musttttttt controlllllllllll selffffffffffff from hiiiiiiiijackinggggggggggggg argggggggggggggggggggg btw if thi thi and other suburu guys see this i think they'll go nuts at cha

and if you are looking into a mazda 6 or 3, pick the 3 since the interior is pretty much identical (legroom, headroom) and its a lot cheaper, and nothing can go wrong with a good ol accord or camry

thank you for demonstrating some control:thumbsup:

I was actually thinking of buying a used car. Something worth about 40k used, like a BMW or a Mercedes or Acura.

My wife to be really doesn't like Mercedes. My dad has a big S-class and she loves it but parts and labour on it is inzane.

I imagine BMW is the same but she doesn't know that.:nut:

I dont think those bad boys are in the running, completly different league.

An older TL perhaps or an older Audi?

You can *never* go wrong with a 3 Series BMW. I'm really happy so far with my 2000 Audi S4, which you may also consider. The 3 Series are a lot more fun, but the Audis have slightly nicer interiors and a smoother ride.

Having said that, I still think that the 3 Series is the best car value, period, especially the 325.

I agree. I just need some opinions on the 3 to really secure my decision.

Don't hijack my thread please.

I am very good friends with the owner of the server in which www.beyond.ca resides.

I can have your ass banned in a heartbeat.

Ooooh, your tough.

I replied to your thread with an option, you called Subarus "FUCKING GARBAGE" -- you were fishing for a response and I obliged.

Your the clown.

Magnum's coming out pretty soon too, it's got a HEMI too. Offcourse being brand new price might me a little steep, :dunno: . Looks better that the 300C IMO, plus it's a wagon so tons of room for your growing family :D .

Is it the 325 for $40 000? If it's for a 320 I wouldn't touch it.

do you want a 4 door for insurance purposes or for a family? i like the dodge srt-4. very fast and only about 30 grand i believe? and with the extra 10 000, you can do all the mopar upgrades and get an easy 300 whp!

i would get the bmw you could get a nice 3 series in ur price range and there nice durable and fast cars

If you are considering a new-ish benz: C-Class get either the C230 Kompressor or a C320(budget may not allow) not the C240. You can get a great E-class E320 for 40K and the W210 chassis was a great car...they just replaced it in 2003 so a 2000 or 2001 E320 should be under 40...and they look PIMP with hardly any mods. Your Dad's S-class I presume is out of warranty and will cost more than a C or E just cause that's the way it goes....MB parts are not much more than hondas anymore (for the more common, average stuff) and labor rates are about the same as Ford:eek: (80/hr to 90/hr)

My ten cents....

Well, considering that I am looking at Mercedes and BMW very seriously, I don't think a Neon has much of a chance at getting in my garage. Thanx for the input though:thumbsup:
