Question: lost posts

i just lost about 700 posts on my total count from the number last night, according to the members list. im just wondering why this happened? i suppose its not that big a deal but it seems strange and id like to know why. I also noticed that the mods didnt loose any posts. Is this a conspiracy??? haha

i lost a bunch as well, i used to be at 9.5 posts per day... now i am down to 8.7

My guess is kenny changed some rules around (other areas that used to count) and recalculated the total post count. We don't delete old posts/threads.

When they purge old posts Idont think they update posts counts... atleast I never did on my forum.

after i saw this thread and i checked my posts. i have no idea how many posts i lost, but i went from 3 to 4...

and not that i really care, but its pretty obvious that only the mods didnt get their post count butchered, which is kinda ghey.

vbulletin is kinda buggy in adding to your postcounts, so sometimes it adds much. When posts are deleted or moved to lounge, postcounts don't go down... When an update is run, it calculates it based on how many actual posts you made that are supposed to be counted, so it fixes the number to it's real value.

This is what happened over the last few days:

When someone on the admin team (in this case it was me) changes whether or not posts in a certain forum count toward the users post count, the software does not automatically change each users post count.

Also, when threads that originate in a section where posts do count are moved to a section that does not count, post counts again are not immediately changed on your user profile. I decided to update the db with actual figures yesterday.

If your post count dropped significantly, it means you post a lot of off topic type stuff and not real automotive content.
