I will be the person wawtching the auto cross... like the only person, I dunno why it doesn't get more fans. I will have to watch a few drags too though :)

Yes.

When you see the 2nd light go 'out' (and 3rd light go on) - FLOOR IT! Don't wait for the green light...

Have fun!

okay thanks.....b4 the green? would that be a false start?

ThaSpirit
07-09-2004, 07:16 PM
yeah, that is a false start... depending on your reaction speed, it could also be very close to a perfect start :p. Worst thing you can do is start early, then stop and wait for the green, cause that just totally screws your time.

Your reaction time would have to be less than .25 seconds to red light if you actually waited to SEE the third yellow light before going. :)

Anyhow, I sucked royally at the 1/4 tonight. :thumbsdow

But that's not why I went. I went for the Auto-X. Just did the 1/4 because I felt like I was obligated to do so...since basically you've gotta pay for it. Which does smell funny if you ask me. :dunno:

So, Auto-X...Now, that was an absolute blast!

My poor tires. LOL.

Best run was 49.265. Had several in the 49.x area. Worst was like 51.1 so I was very consistent.

It was a good time!

First run ever.

Was so confident that I raced Kenny in Rage's AMG. I ran a 16.859 @ 83.49mph against his 13.648 @ 105.25mph. Haha, that checked me a bit...

Best run of the night was my third where I improved more than a second. I ran a 15.825 @ 87.65mph against a 4 door accord running 17.526 @ 80.10mph.

I think with a little more practice I can get around 15.6.

Here is my best run, notice anything wierd, anything i can improve on?

hehe I was watching that race. Did you forget to start? You stood at the start line for like 2 seconds before you took off.

I was hoping to stay longer but my wife has to work real early in the morning, so I wanted to get her home. She had a best time of 14.2@104mph in the AMG. She's still learning how to launch with 420hp, no LSD, and Kumho 712's . Not an ideal first time experience, but she learned damn quick... by her 4th run she was clocking 2.5s 60ft times, and that's driving thru the waterbox getting the tires all wet.

Kenny ran his first run in my car at 13.6, not bad considering I didn't prep the car at all for drag racing... running heavy ass 18" wheels, street tires, stock filters. The air must be pretty bad too, car was about 2mph slower than last year and I got a shitload of mods in the car now. Either that or the wheels made a HUGE difference!

Other than the mosquitoes, which are now out in full force, it was a fun night. Was hoping for a miracle and seeing a 12.9 run from the car, but I guess I got a lot of work to do to get there hehe.

Saw you all down there tonight. Was a pretty good night.. apart from those damned mosquitoes! Best time tonight was a 17.355... didn't beat my best overall of 17.341 yet... was hoping the new suspension would bring me down a bit.. but.. apparently it didn't. Unfortunately, I can barely get into 3rd at high rpms... probably my synchros are going, which doesn't make me too happy... but it was great fun.

Was pleased to go up against a 5th gen accord today... (Sky, I believe)... was quite even throughout most of it!

very nice numbers with your 240..when I shifted to second you start pulling hard all the way..haha. I had to follow you to pick a race for that run....didn't want to go against some 13sec stang...haha

Z_fan were you in your 300? I didn't see it there last night. Auto cross was awesome though. That old mustang as the first to spin out cause of the puddle that led into the strait set of slalom pilons. Then the RX-7 did a couple 180*'s ;). It got a better crowd last night too, I noticed a lot more people watching. Oh, and who ever had that nissan 350Z and was baggin the F*CK out of it in the auto cross...

Anyways, thats my 2 cents, there was a really quick bike there last night too, didn't get a good look at it though. And who's SLK was that?

Uhm, yeah, well, uhmmm, the 300 is in the garage. I'm not moving it until end of August after some more goodies get installed. Ahem...

The guy bagging the fuck out of the 350z was me...

Hey, it's got a rev limiter... :dunno:

I was just learning to drive it aggressively. I'm sure some people were going like WTF

The 350z is a wild car on the auto cross. Had a good time. Probably shouldn't be so hard on the engine. But the tires, hell, that's what I was there to finish burning off. Track days got most of the rubber already...

Yup, I was in the 4th gen. Haven't been able to get anything lower than 17.3 yet... but once I finish the rest of my exhaust I should be able to. I just have 2.25" from the cat back... and there is a crimp at the bottom of my header, so it's restricting it quite a bit. Going to get a new header, and then run 2.25" all the way back, replacing the cat with a resonator... That should bring my times down quite a bit, I hope.

But yeah, you were quite quick too. It'd be nice to see that car with a stick.

Well... good story. The top light turned off when I was staging so I thought I went too far. I put it in reverse then the light started going down. I slammed it into first as fast as I could but Kenny was loooong gone...

Nice pics.

You got my pic on the 3rd run. The last run for me. LOL. Cuz I red lighted, then grinded the gears on my 2nd run. Decided to not make a total ass of myself and just leave the 1/4 all together! LOL! Oh well, still pulled off a 14.9 which is slow but I didn't grind the gears! HAHAH.

Yeah that was a fun night,.... I was the poor guy in the 2nd gen Z24 who just rolled off the line to the side,..... blew my clutch,... LOL
all fixed now,.... even switched trannies,... but unfortunately there were different speed sensors on the two trannies so now i don't have a speedo,... oh well,.. don't need it for drag,... LOL

My best time before my clutch blew was 16.5,.... in the past times,.... I always gain .2 throughout the night,.... usually start 16.6/7 and end around a 16.4/5,... but that night I started the night with a 16.5/6 and was pretty damn sure I would've hit a 16.3,.... stock n/a motor, 19x xxx kms

Gotta wait a few weeks now before I can run again,... gotta break in the new clutch,... may try and switch trannies back too.

wanted to bring the garret powered, open DP, turboedit tuned, ferrari (civic) but it was just acting up, I thought it was my shitty basemap but it looks like a blew my head gasket.

barmanjay

I knew it was gonna happen sometime,... Turns out to be a faulty pressure plate,.... and if that didn't go,... noticed the clutch plate was all cracking,... so if the pressure plate didn't go,... the clutch would've shattered.
The tow was cheap - Krazy Kooter - flat rate $65,.. all the up to silver springs in the far NW.

sweet pictures up there man... that mustang with a 7.5L 460ci must be pretty quick I was debating doing that to the mustang I have sitting but I need a new body so if I'm gonna do that I might as well just start fresh and scrap that one lol... last time I timed my shitty car (not on a track and timed with a stop watch on my cell phone) it ran 21.08 in the quarter mile which is pretty shitty but that wasnt an official time either:thumbsdow anyway I guess I really gotta start working on my car to get my times down blah

Yes it is, but im sure a big part of it is driver skill. My car is running less than stock psi, and power isn't amazing. In edmonton, a guy ran 14.7 with 10 lbs of boost and exhaust...
