View Full Version : B20b Engine In My Teg?? What Do You Think!?!

Ok I found a JDM B20B engine head and I was wondering if there was any real advantages of putting it onto my vehicle. Included is:


B20 complete with with valves, springs, retainers, lifters and intake manifold. Doesn't have throttle body. Cams are included Sorry but cam gears are not included. You can always take em off your old head and transfew it over. Cam gears heardly go ever go bad. Head is off a JDM spec B20B. Engine has 15,000 miles, so it's in excellent shape. Will fit B18B blocks.

What do you all think? What else is needed for this? Is it a direct and easy swap?

Keep in mind this is only the CRV head, I will be keeping my b18b bottom end.

This is why i'm wondering if there is any point in adding it. Apparently its a direct bolt on.

If you put a B20 head on a B18 you will actually loose hp. less compression. Its the block you want. you can buy B20 heads on ebay for like 50 bux complete. B20 bottom end will run you close to 1000 if you can even find one.

there is no replacement for displacement!

uh...u would lower your compression ratio, and lose a couple sensors here and there :D

Find the block and you would be in heaven:D , but dont waste your money on just putting the b20 head on your stock block, try to find either a b18c1 or b18c5 or get the b20b block and put the b16 head on

Save your money, put a turbo on, run 9-10psi and call it a day with your 200+ hp and 160+ lb/ft torque.

how will you lose HP form the head you lose Hp form the block not from the head. The heads are almost identical except the b20b head has a better flow and different cams. something like that.

The b20b block has a compression of 8.5:1 vs the b18a 9.0:1. the b20b block is great for turbo cause it has lower compression and is stronger cause it is a closed deck like the h22a. you can run 15psi no problem on the b20b with race gas.

CRV/TEC would run great though. Dude from kelowna is running
B20B block stock
B16A head stock
Hondata stage 3b

and he dynoed at 325hp to the wheels with 14psi.

There's no point of swapping heads. B20B/Z head and B18A/B head are the same. They all have a PR4/P74/P75 cast which is the same, just different generations. B20Z has 0.3mm larger intake cam than the other heads. B20B has 8.8:1 or 9.2:1 Compression Ratio while the B20Z has a 9.6:1 Compresson Ratio. 8.8:1 is not going to be the most fun motor to rev up high, but the 9.6:1 (B20Z) would be nice.

I checked and the B20 head and the B18b head are the same p/n from honda. it is cast P75. there exactly the same.

Ahem...325whp @10psi, he doesn't have a three bar map sensor so he can't run more than 11psi. Stock B20B block (lower compression than the "Z" block), ported B17 head with stock B18C cams and a ported B17 intake manifold, custom turbo kit using a T3/T4 turbo. This car has also been running this kind of power for like three years. Very reliable..he has no problem driving it to Vancouver or Calgary, Starts, runs and idles like a stock Honda/Acura. B20/VTEC/Turbo is an awesome combination!

The B20 cylinder head is the EXACT same cylinder head as your B18B. The intake manifold is junk though.

So if a turbo kit only gets you up to 200hp why wouldn't you sell the integra and get an RSX-S with full warranty?

turbo would make the teg go faster with 200 hp rather than 200 n/a hp wouldnt it?

i've actually heard that a NA car with the same HP as a turbo car would beat the turbo car. if they were the same car with different set up.

NA is to expensive though that's why i'm sticking to my turbo ITR set up all i'm waiting for is my tial wastegate and hondata stage 4b.
