you mean the USDM teg with a body kit right? not meaning to pick on people here, but putting a light conversion on a car doesn't make it any more JDM than putting M3 fenders on it makes it a BMW...there are a couple actual JDM cars in town...who owns them is a secret though ;)
on another note...it is a very nice car...as are a lot of the cars there

I think the term "JDM" in this case wa used to I.D. the car...not in reference to the fact that it HAS to be RHD or whatever man:rolleyes: you all need to take it easy when someone calls something JDM...its a term...

superesc's car has the jdm front end swap. fenders, hood, rad support, bumper, lights...etc... its not a "body kit"

I said it was a nice car...but it's still not jdm...it looks like a jdm teg...I like the look of it...but it's not a jdm car...no matter how many parts you put on it...it's still a USDM teg with a lot of work into it...I am really not arguing with the whole jdm look trend...I understand why people go that way nice clean looks, very nice body work...but to turn around and call it a jdm car is silly...
as far as using it to identify which one we are talkin about...that's all good...but in my opinion the only way to get a jdm car is to ship it across the ocean(and it needs to be 15 years old to the build month to accomplish that)

like I said cool car, not jdm. this is jdm(cyclone...see, my whole car is jdm, including the wheels):

No one is saying the car is JDM in the sense it is a direct import from Japan. I think everyone knows that so I don't even know why you are even explaining such a stupid point. We must all be ricers and can't differentiate.

I think we should have said, USDM Integra with the JDM front end conversion. Is that better? LOL

ummm...I honestly don't know, probly mexico

yes, dsm motors are imported...probably one of the best ideas chrysler came up with was taking a mitsubishi engine and platform and rebadging it...
with the SRT-4 they just stole the idea for the motor(turbo housing and manifold all cast as one piece is a mitsubishi thing if I remember correctly)
...whatever...I don't really care...if I wanted everyone to know about my car I would post pictures of it all over everywhere...but I don't...
yes...it's an FC, as you can tell from the door frame it's grey...it got here week before last, I am driving to vancouver tomorrow for the indy or I would be at the meet...I was there week before last, but weather pwn3d me and I didn't see anyone else...
here's a shot from the outside...sorry that the picture sucks

I think sharing a parts bin with benz is an even better idea :dunno:

Most of the chryslers that are built on mitsu platforms had chrysler engines with the exception of the 1g dsms. 2nd gen turbos were mitsu but the non-turbo was mopar-powered. The 420a was even being considered by BMW for their 3 series and the mopar 1.6 which is based on the 420a powers foreign MINI Coopers. Just pointing out that the engines are good ideas too ;)

Can't really steal something from something you have majority ownership of

And the SRT-4 engine actually started life as the PT Cruiser GT engine ;) (again can't steal what you own  ). The exhaust manifold/turbo housing one-piece unit was a necessity due to the cramped engine bay of the PT Cruiser. Mitsu's role was simply the fabrication of the housing and the turbo unit itself.

OH, nice car btw :D

Go4Long
07-21-2004, 02:15 AM
I don't think they have a choice in the benz situation...even though it was classified as a partnership when it happened...benz supposedly has a lot more control than chrysler does in the deal...

and the daimler group has sold it's portion of the ownership of mitsu...mitsu is in a pretty bad spot right now due to some of their financing programs in the states not exactly going there way(I believe the program was that you got the car with no payments for six months or something like that, and basically a whole bunch of people defaulted once the payments needed to be made...and they ended up with a shit load of cars that were now having to be sold as used that they never made any money on)...but we are gettin pretty far off topic here...

yes, the motor has belonged to chrysler for a while, and was originally put in the PT Bruiser...I was just talkin bout the use of mitsu technology...then the whole thank you now get the hell outta our house thing they have done to mitsu now cracks me up

and thanks about the car :D

Contrary to what everyone thinks, it was NOT a merger between Chrysler and MB. MB BOUGHT Chrysler. Sharing NOS to make new chrysler products is a great way to extend the life of parts Ex: the R170 Chassis replaced by the new R171 (SLK) is used for the crossfire, and the 300C is based on the (previous) E-class chassis as well...

but back on topic Mr. JDM king, distinguishing the car by saying the JDM teg is not wrong....let it go....

JDM=Japanese Domestic Market, so cars that are for the Japanese market. Last time I looked, never saw a Right Hand Drive ACURA Integra for sale there.

Integras are made in Japan, but are for use and sale in the other countries if it's a LHD model. But whatever, everyone is on the JDM bandwagon.

I do like the looks of that Integra though and never understood why they decided to go with the bug-eye front end for this market. Didn't like it then, don't like it now.

I love how my and Aldrich's picture thread turned into a JDM argument... hahaha

:drama:

JDM = built and sold in Japan for Japanese people.
JDM also = built elsewhere and sold in Japan only. Toyota Cavalier comes to mind.

Exactly...what does JDM Stand for kids? Japanese Domestic Market, which = intended sale and manufacture for their local market only.

Last time I checked...anywhere else on the planet other than Japan is not Japanese Domestic Market. When the cars come to North America, they get the USDM beat down, often changing the headlights, bumpers, motors, and a few other gizmos. This is the case for many EUDM cars that come over as well.

Now, on with TEH PICS!

so Go4Long,

your saying since a car isn't right hand driven its not JDM?

well looks like my car is about as jdm as everyone elses even though it has a front end FROM japan and a engine FROM japan

but bens post explains everything

Go4Long
07-22-2004, 06:26 PM
yup...that's exactly what I'm saying...here...I'll put it in terms you'll understand...
michael jackson has payed a lot of money to make himself look like a white woman(which in this argument represents a JDM car)...he's still a black man(which represents anything not JDM)
got that?
I was not trying to be a prick...just pointing out that just because something may look jdm does not make it jdm, even with the motor...it's not jdm...it is JDM swapped...which is cool, and I respect the amount of work that goes into it..probably more work than it took me to get my car here...hell...the swap on that teg probly cost more than I payed for my car including shipping
