OBD1 head --> OBD2 block?

So since my block is fubar'd, does it matter if the block I get is OBD2? Or does it have to match the head?

just be careful about the sensors. Some of them may have different plugs between obd-1 and obd-2
I know for sure there are differences between obd-0 and obd-1.
