can 99-2000 civic si taillights fit on a 96-98 civic si coupe?

im not 100% but i dont think they can, it requires a conversion of the grill, and the bumper... many of the cars forsale on this site boast a 99 conversion on their 96 civics.. correct me if im wrong guys but its like fitting 98-2000 teggy headlights on a 94-97.. they are just different sizes
