Depending on what car...gut the catalyic converter, and add a test pipe.

On my stealth for example, gut the pre-cats, main cat, and add a test pipe (to replace the main cat). Test pipe bolts in place of the cat, and will cost you $35 tops.

Ummm... I don't get it. :dunno: Why gut the main cat, if you're going to replace it with a pipe? Am I mis-reading something?

It should have read, gut the cat....OR add a test pipe.

A gutted cat creates an area of turbulence, which can impede exhaust flow. If it's a matter of budget, gut the cat, if it's a matter of HP, get a test pipe.
