Car Buying

Hello everyone. I'm looking to buy my first car and would like your input. I am currently driving my dad's old 94 corolla which has about 225k miles on it now and starting to crap out. I'm on a budget of about 5-6k though. My dad is really good at working on cars so buying one that needs minor work is no problem. I would like a decently quick car that looks good. So what do you think the best bang for the buck is for my budget?

The three I have been thinking about are:

Mk3 Supra Turbo
V6 Firebird
V6 Camaro

I wouldn't mind going with an import car and its reliability though.

PS: What's the deal with VW's? I don't mean to sound ignorant or anything but i don't see why they are so popular? Is it the looks? Because personally I hate the styling of VW's. If someone could shed some light that'd be great.

I don't know what $5k-6k can buy in the states but anyways I sugest an SW20 MR2 turbo, AE86 Corrolla, or an S13/14 240SX to stick with your RWD theme. The better deal on the car you get the more money you can spend making go faster.:burnout:
