I think the 5spd auto was introduced in 2001.
If it was 2000 then I learnt something new today.

I'm not trying to say I know everything, but I think it was 2001.

my E36 is 5 spd auto..

my parents old old 95 530 was 5 spd auto also

anyways, just saying....5 spd auto has ALWAYS..been on E46's..and not "newly introduced" for it

from late 1998 all BMW 3 series automatic are " 5 Sp "

And even from 1993 , 320i Automatic are 5 speed too.
