Those cars are very quick, I liked the STI before I had a chance to drive an evo8, the evo8 deserves any hype that it gets

Some stupid bumper testing , i would take both , they are pratically the same car... i hope when evo's come to canada ,they change the damn plastic interior!

Well, for the model Trim level, the EVO 8 in US is lower then the STi, that is why it is $3K us less, however, when compare the same trim level, EVO is always slightly more money and slightly faster .. but the EVO 8 in US , is more or less a EVO7, no yaw control, no 6 speed ..

Agian, they both super nice cars ! just before the STi came out, comparing a WRX and a EVO is not fair, the EVO is much fast and few G more expensive !

Both EVO and WRX STi have many diff trim levels and models..

I never hv luck to try the EVO, however, I am very satify with the STI, it is fast, soft, comfort, and smooth ! and from what I read, EVO is fast, but no comfort.

Anyway, both nice ! but we can only have WRX/STi here as low end fast car ! can't compare !

i dont quite follow you on the types of trim levels on the evo and sti... if i am not mistaken, there is only 1 trim on the evo and sti if i believe... the sti is more expensive by $3k and has the center and front diff... but the evo and the sti still perform practically the same.. and ive read actually the evo doing better in handling, and acceleration is practically the same.. i believe it would depend on the drivers at that point.. but the evo is a bumpy ride and not comfortable, but its fun and thats what i'm looking for.. the sti in the states doesn't have a radio or any speakers, but i am not sure if it is like that here in canada... the evo has all standard features except no cruise control pretty much and the one thing i hate is the damn small gas tank.. 14gallons compared to the sti's 15 i believe... but i would say both cars are great and fun to drive i would imagine... also... the states have a few new models if that is what you refer to by the trim levels.. i dont think the sti has any new trims.. but the evo has an RS model which has basically alot of thinks taken off for weight purposes... no hid, headlights, abs, sunroof, yadda yaa.... its cost is considerably less and i believe is more for those that are going to fix it up anyways and dont need the fancy add-ons... just my two cents  ... btw... i am the evo owner ;) .... and the US might be comin out with the evo mr which will just be sick!... 0-60mph in 4.3s and amazing handling and other things.. its about 500lbs lighter or 300.. i forget which.. i am gonna be jealous if it comes out!

the general concensus is that the evo handles ever-so-slightly better while the sti is ever-so-slightly faster, stock for stock. it only takes 1 mod on either car to change this, so for most people it isnt really going to be the deciding factor. 2 things the sti does have is the DCCD, and an extra .5 litres of displacement. but it also costs a bit more. i think its mostly personal preference.

what bums me out is the sti in japan still has the 2.0L motor... thats the max for the WRC i believe... so to me... technically... the sti here isnt a true rally motor... to me it kind of bites that they made it a 2.5L instead and i wonder why? :dunno: but a good buddy of mine in LA has a wrx with the jdm spec C motor or something like that, not too sure what it is but its pretty fricking fast and kills on the track

maybe cause the 2004 model year was the first STI subaru even gave to north america?

its simple really, we require stronger bumpers than the usa, and they didnt comply when they made the cars.
