Hello. I have a Dell Latitude cpx laptop and I need the software to connect it from my laptop to my TV. I'm using a 4-pin S-Video cable. If anyone could direct me a place where I can obtain this software, that would be great. Thanks

i have a dell laptop and i dont use any software

i just goto the desktop properties and under settings click on screen 2 and check the option that says extend my windows desktop onto this monitor

then you can play media player or dvd player on the tv portion of the desktop.

or if i boot up with the tv cable plugged in, i get the main screen on both the laptop and the tv

when you bought your dell laptop, was all your software pre-loaded? Also, which model of dell laptop do you have? Thanks

you shouldn't need software. It should be built into the Bios. You should be able to switch by pressing 'FN' and 'CRT/LCD'

I think that S-video works the same as an external monitor... at least my Dell does... and it is 3.5 years old.

Cuz right now, when I connect my S-video out from my laptop to the S-video in on my TV, I dont see anything. But I'll try press Fn+'CRT/LCD"(where is this button located?) I read that pressing Fn+F5 might also do that trick. Thanks for the inputs

So right now, all I have to do is hook up my laptop to my TV, go to Video 1, and on my laptop hit Fn+F8 and my TV screen should show what my laptop screen is showing?

BTW: I'm running with Win 2000. Not sure if this makes a difference or not.

Hello. So I followed everyone's instructions. I hooked up everything and when I pressed Fn+F8, my laptop screen and my tv flicked for a second and everything returns back to normal. I pressed it again and both screens just flicked. I even tried rebooting my laptop up but nothing happens still. Any input would be greatly appreicated. Thanks

check ur resolution, some tv's wont take anything past 640x480...usually ur vidcard will kick in and make your tv only show a portion of ur desktop to solve that problem, either way try pushing fn f8 when ur runnin ur desktop at 640x480.
