i was going to the Paramount Chinook theatre at like 7pm, and in the parking lot was a black mid-80's pontiac fiero, but what makes it funny is on the back the owner put a corvette eblem on in place of the pontiac one. i so wish i had a camera phone so i could show u, it was the funniest thing ever

LS1

The LS6 is the old 454 GM Performance crate motor.

IIRC. The Corvette engine is an "LS6 based LS1". Basically a new technology motor (LS1) based on the old LS6 design.

Grip would know for sure.

1993-1997 F-Bodies have an LT1

1997-2004 C5's have LS1,(350HP)
2001-2004 C5 ZO6's have an LS6 a 405HP LS1 devired motor

The LS1 and LS6 are nothing alike the LS6 of old. The old LS6 is a big block, new LS6 is a small block, period. The LS1's arn't even really similar to the old small blocks. 350's were 4.00" x 3.48", new LS1/LS6's are 3.90" x 3.622", SBC's have a 9.025" deck height where the LS1's are 9.25", SBC's have 5 head bolts around each cylinder where LS1's have 4, the gen3 small blocks are a totally different animal from anything chevy has ever produced.

As I recall, the only bits from a traditional small-block chevy that will fit into the new LS1 are the lifters (or in any case, it was something retarded small like that). They are two completely different animals and without getting all technical about it, all that needs to be said is that for the purpose of comparison, you might as well be comparing a 350 to the old straight six. Two different motors with two totally different designs and goals.
