I just saw a Black Evo 8 west of the Sunridge Mall (by the ATB). I was stopped waiting to cross the street and see a black Lancer. I'm thinking, "hmm that looks odd". Then, "hmm that's got a front mount". Then he turned and it had the big ass wing. I didn't catch the plates, but they were clearly not from here. Might have been the white Cali plates.

To be honest, I was kinda underwhelmed with the look. Maybe the black was really making it look non descript. Still a badass car, made my afternoon. :D

Sorry, no pics. I was actually walking back from lunch to work.

I am 100% sure it was an Evolution. There was clearly the front mount IC, Evo tails, Evo spoiler and American license plates.

What are the big diffs of the Evo 7 and 8? This one was left hand drive so it was no JDM job. Pretty sure it was an 8.

Saw the Yellow one up in my neighborhood today.
didn't expect to see that on my trip to 7-11.

I saw it too when I was going home from my gf's house. Stopped and took another look. Was gonna run home and grab my camera but I couldn't be assed. I've seen it a couple times near the area.
I assume you live in Hawkwood as well.

From looking from the outside, the only real difference is the front bumper and hood. The evo8 is just a slightly detuned evo7 with the uglier north american bumper. Still a crazy nice car. I wish I had one.

^^^ If there was ever a car that should not have a front plate, this would be it.

Yeah. I didn't say the exact neighborhood, because if it was my super rare car being posted about, i wouldn't want someone saying exact locations.

What a head turner that thing is though...damn.

Yeah it's called the Neon. I had heard that the next gen Neon / SX platform will be shared with the Lancer.

That's right suckaz... your Evolution is STILL JUST A NEON. :nut:

lol.. thats my cousin's car. SUCH a fun car to drive.. the whole time he was here.. I made him drive my bmw and i took his evo 8 hahahha.

The mods on his car are:

HKS Hyper full exhaust (sounds amazing)
Blitz turbo timer (he kept it at stock 22 psi)
Greddy boost controller
Blitz blowoff
JDM tailights

Somewhere on a different forum I read something about the EVO coming to Canada, sponsored by Chrysler. Can anyone verify this?

I don't remember it being stock 22 psi ... I think it was in the 18 ballpark and tapered off to 16 near redline

i thnk it was 19psi, but who's counting? :dunno:

googe
10-27-2004, 03:22 AM
also the fact that a turbo timer has nothing to do with boost control...

IS the Evo 8. The u.s version of the japanese evo 7?
Or is there an Evo 8 in japan aswell?

If so you CAN own an evo 8 in canada cause it was built and produced for the states.

can someone clarify this or explain to me ?

saftey is the first reason why the car isn't in canada, can't pass out saftey crash tests, unlike the STI which did!

i love that car, for the money, it would be pimp to bring that car back to canada. Its very possible to register the car is you have family in the United States but that is also tricky with insurance and the canadian government wanting you to pay taxes for driving on these roads!

we have 2 cars in our family with american plates and whenever we go through the boarder we are questions up the ass but the canadian boarder fags!

Anywho thats my 0.03$

Okay I understand.
I know all hte info about japan cars in that they have to be 15 years to be legal here blah blah blah.

I just had no idea that if a car was made in united states they weren't alowed over in canada either.

I have a few questions about the evo models.

was the Evo 7 the latest model in japan?
and then the evo 8 The U.S version of the evo 7?

or is there an Evo 8 in japan aswell?
