View Full Version : High Risk Insurance!!

Pole Position

My driving record is horrible, and being 22 doesn't help either.

I want to know if there are any insurance company that will take "high risk" drivers. I have insurance right now, but it doesn't hurt to ask other places.

I know TD is one of the cheapest, but they won't take me. :(

I don't want to make tons of phone calls, so please advise people!!

Better start making tons of phone calls... back when I didn't have a "spotless record" (ok I almost got my license suspended from tons of speeding ticketes), it took about 12 different calls to random places before my dad found a place that would insure me on the 944 turbo... for a whopping $8k a year .

Yikes... getting labelled high risk is the worst...
Most company's won't insure you, so it's best to try and get a family hook-up.

Go to an insurance broker. They can usually find something decent.

Right now I'm paying more than Rage2 did when he didn't have a "spotless record". That's pretty horrible.

That's just because of inflation :D. That price was from like 10 years ago hehe.

If you find a better rate than that let me know. Currently I have the same driving record and 4 years of driving experience and I pay around $2700/year.

Try calling Trilagy Brokers, or go to their website. Not sure what the address is but just look it up in yahoo or something. They gave me a pretty good price. My insurance would be the same price that I'm paying now with Pembridge. And right now I only have:

quarter million Liability
comprehensive

and at Trilagy they quoted me the same price with Echolen or something, that I'm paying now for

million Liability
comprehensive
sef44
collision

so give them a try. I work at Kingsway Insurance and we are supposed to insure high risk but my friend got insured here and he had 3 accidents and he just got cancelled. So it's pretty hard to get anything with a bad driving record

Who are you insured with? 3 million liability??!! wtf?! the most you can get is 1 million liability!! You are probably insured under Primmum or TD. Or with the same company as your parents and they have been there for a long time with a good driving record too. There's no way you got 1500 a year on your own being 19 years of age.

on my own but i didnt mention that i insure my car a little west of you guys i am from calgary but i go to school at uvic i would definetly recommend some of you insure your cars with ICBC insurance company of british columbia.

For every year you drive without an accident your insurance goes down 5% if you have an accident in your first year it wont go up nearly as much as in alberta and did i mention that i have speeding tickets coming out my ass well icbc doesnt care

so if you want insurance get someone who lives in bc and use their address then drive out to bc get an inspection and get insurance. garranty youll save money. ICBC knows i live in alberta but becuase i go to school there they dont care .

my buddy couldnt afford insurance here, so he went to bc and got a quote full coverage on a 2002 sunfire for $1700 a year.

he didnt get it though, cause u need an adress in bc and if u are really living in alberta not bc your considered a bad bad man and get into twuble...

but damn is alberta expensive for insurance. I am $10,500 with no record.

i got a question... since you guys are talking about insuring in Alberta and BC.. welll i never got any quote from BC, but my quote from Alberta, state farm is about 3500/years for a car priced at about 20k. ( its cheaper than if im doing it through those quote i got from..knetix..something.. maybe cuz my whole family is insured by them for so many years)

well you guys were talking about its cheaper in BC and you need an Address, we have an apartment in BC thats currently rented out, can i use that Address to get a car insured?

3300 Full coverage, still a lot for a 10 year old car IMO

'91 CRX Si - 1900/yr, no collision(now only 30/mth cuz it's parked:D)
'96 Civic LX - 1800/yr, no collision
'03 WRX - Don't know yet, but full coverage

I was basically paying $342.xx/mth for all 3 cars(before the WRX). Oh, forgot to mention that I'm "married", and my g/f is primary on all cars. I have 3 speeding tickets too.:( Good thing is all 3 will be off when I turn 25!
