Oct 25: my oil light flash intermittently as I was warming up the car at my work parking lot. Shut off the car, let it sit for a few min and check the oil dip stick. NO oil on the stick. I was like wtf? I did buy 8 bottles of Castrol GTX 5-30 the nite before but I took them out of my trunk. So I walked to Zellers to buy 2 bottles of Castrol GTX 5-30 so I can get home. Put in another bottle of oil. Level indicator at Full.

Nov 6 (today): check oil dipstick before starting the car. indicator at 1/4 mark between low and full??????????

Should I get a leak down test done?

No signs of oil on the driveway.

It's probably burning off in your exhaust, sign of rings or seals. Is this the car your friend sold you after driving it for a week? (Maybe this is why he sold it?)

Black is fuel (rich), blue/grey is oil, white is coolant.

Same thing happened to my car. I'm pretty sure it's the seals!

So whats the easiest way to repair piston rings? I hear it's basically an engine rebuild?

White smoke can be just condensation, but if the white smoke don't go away after the car is warm, then it is coolant.

If the valve seals are bad, then you will notice it when you first start the car. It goes away after the car is warm.

Worn pistons
Blown head gaskets
Warped cylinders

That's all I can think of.

Replacing pistons rings will take some time, because the pistons has to come out.

green smoke, then blue, then red, then yellow means your exhaust LEDs are working just fine!
