Hey guys,
I'm new to the forums and I currently own a 1988 pontiac optima gls and well it sucks
So I'm looking for something a little more (ok a whole lot more) fun to drive
I have no idea about what cars are out there the only one I was thinking about was a 199ish supra twin turbo (mkIII mk IV's are to expenisve)
Heres what im looking for
RWD (must)
no domestic.
forced induction would be nice but not a must
can be any year but the price is a limit wich I dont know yet since my step dad is a dealer and he can get something relatively cheap so imguessing around 10gs advertised price...

oh i also had an old m3 in mind but that didnt turn out so good since all the ones ive seen are still realy expensive

Welcome to beyond.

If you're thinking about an E30 M3, consider an E36 M3 instead. The E30 is a great car but not really suited for a daily driver. The E36 M3 is more abundant and there are lots of mods available.

Import RWD:

Lexus IS300
Nissan 240sx
Toyota Corolla
Nissan Skyline (imported)
Nissan 300zx
BMW's
Mazda RX-7

LIst goes on and on. How much money you got?

for 10 grand you can get a nissan 240sx with an sr20det swapped in. thats an import, rwd, and boosted.

if MK IV's are too expensive...why are you thinking about a Twin Turbo...they are the same car...

MKIII is a GREAT platform...but like HJR said the SR route is a great one as well...

because we had one before and we got it for relatively cheap
(4 grand) and i realy liked it or does the single turbo one create the same amount of boost?

A sequential twin turbo system (like the one on the supra) normally doesn't give you more power than a single turbo. It provides more driveability as the smaller turbo is able to spool at a lower RPM, and then the bigger one (the one providing the bigger power) spools later. One large turbo will give you more power than both of these though, and this is why most high horsepower seeking MKIV owners have a single turbo setup. So twin turbo does not mean double the power in this case.

Go for the 240, its an amazingly fun car. With only a few relatively cheap mods you can get some sweet power...

wow all tha means absolutely squat to me (am i that unsmart?)
i know theyre engines at least... either way i think ive decided on an e30 beamer (probably a 318is) for 1 i love the look of them 2 theyre german (im german) and 3 its a beamer
and dont give me this hugue repair cost shit im prepared for that... and since my step dad owns a car dealership i can go there and fix it myself
and maybe someone makes a turbo for it?

Haha, well an E30 318 is going to be MUCH slower than anything listed here. You could get an E30 325 for that price, or find an E36 318.

I'm gonna say try and find a standard tranny Volvo 740 turbo. Does a RWD boosted euro sport sedan with well over 200HP on basic mods for under 10 grand sound tempting?

u could actually get an E36 325 if u looked around a bit, when i was in the market for them a couple of months ago they werent hard 2 find at 9ish G's.

I dont like the e36 body style.... couldnt you just get a turbo for the e30 or something?

three.eighteen.
08-17-2004, 08:30 PM
what? come on, the E36 is the best looking 3 series ever, discounting the E30 M3, and on that note...buy my car

"buying a beamer cause it's a beamer and that means it's good"

YOur right you do know dick all about cars, meh. You do know though that the whole "Ultimate Driving Machine" mantra is a big marketing scam right?

Sooke

better than a domestic....
and why do you think I know dick all about cars?
because I like bmw?
do you want the whole world to be just like you?

asides from that yes they arent the ultimate but my favourite.

There are lots around, especially if you can go to Vancouver to buy... not as rare as a manual 850 turbo
