buyer beware!!!!!!!!read this thread http://www.civicevolutions.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=8&t=3576&hl=attention&st=45 I hate to be an asshole man,but I think the buyer should know that there is a chance that the car could get taken from them cause its an illegal import. P.s. u should keep the car,its a clean looking ride.

I'm pretty positive the car is legal. I believe he went about the purchase in all the right ways. Mac's not one to cheat on cars, from what I know he always keeps all reciepts, go's to reputable mechanics, and doesn't deal with shady buyers/sellers. He's not the kind to buy something on impulse, I can gaurentee he put alot of research into buying this car. I'm also sure he would keep it if he could so it's not like he's trying to dodge the law or anything here. Anyways good luck on the sale, clean ride for sure!

If the car is an 1988 model, there won't be any problems because it falls under the 15 year import rule.
The only thing that concerns me, is that in every pic of the car, the parts are all 1990-91 style. The front end, tail lights, instrument cluster and surround and cloth pattern of the seats. I can understand if some parts were switched back in Japan, but its unlikely the interoir parts would have been changed over too. I'm sure mac is not trying to do anything wrongfull at all, but he may have been sold the car himself being told its a different year than it really is.

Btw, i have owned 7 crx's myself now and imported a few from Japan too, so i know the differences.
If the car is here in Calgary, why not bring the car by the shop, i can go over it with you in detail.

dont get me wrong here im sure the seller is not trying to screw anyone over here, just concerned that he does not know the details of the car. I myself was looking into buying the car from the guy that imported it,but found out the info on the car and decided against it.The guy that imported it is very well known for bringing in illegal cars in edmonton. And it is a fact that the car is not an 88,even though the papers say so.But i dont really get the big deal about the bid hassle of these illegal car, arent all our cars illegal in some way???

japanese vehicles don't have vins to begin with...they have a 10 digit serial number...mine is FC3S-XXXXXX...

he lists all the SiR parts in his aftermarket parts list...also if it was actually an SiR that would be a B16 under the hood...

if the car was brought in late last year or this year you can be assured that it is legal, however, despite what some people might try to convince you, if you get a car in illegally, and then the 15 years pass, it doesn't miraculousely become legal...if it comes in illegally, it's always illegal. However I am under the distinct impression that this car hasn't been here long, so should be perfectly legal.

to be honest i thought it really was an 88 until i sold it, then i got a recipet from the mechanic who first did the work on my car before i got it and it was listed as an 93, so other then that, i dont even know what it is to this date.
