Since you are just starting won't you have to start at a teller?

What is a "Senior Customer Service Representative"? Is that a teller? What about an "Investment Associate"? I know that's not a teller, but what is it?

Thanks senior csr sounds like a senior teller to me. it just means ure the teller that other tellers go to when theyve fucked up.

why not ask your banker how they landed their job?

In this position, you would do RRSPs, loans, mortgages, term deposits, etc.

That's my guess anyway. Maybe Zorro will give a definitive answer.

Senior CSR can also mean you're the CSR on the seniors' banking counter. Probably not fun!

Senior CSR could be senior phone support for online banking

An Investment Associate deals with investments (GIC, terms, RSPs etc.)

Start looking at the banks websites under employment and see what they have for retail bank positions, not just in Calgary but at other parts of the country. Read what they job title is and if you know you are qualified for that position then make a cover letter addressing that position and drop off a resume at the banks. You don't really have to start off as a CSR, I work with the bank and I have seen new hires start off as Financial Service Advisors.

When I move up to Edmonton that is what I will be at Td Canada Trust. I have been with the bank for over two years, and it took me a while to acutally get an interview. Most of the jobs are not posted on the internet or newspapers. So if you could write a good cover letter selling yourself you might have luck getting an interview.

Hope this helps!

I am a Mortgage Specialist at RBC, I got the job through my sales skill and real estate sales history/abilities/contacts made with people. Oh and it doesn't hurt that I have a finance degree too ;)

I have never been a teller but that first job title IS a teller. Normally out of school you will start as a teller or PBR (personal banker responsible for loans, rrsps etc,) if you don't have any special skills useful for the bank's other positions. Banks other than RBC will have you do mortgages as well as a PBR)

One more question..... what are the different Job codes? What do they mean? I see "C" or "E" or "P" under various jobs. What exactly do those designations stand for?

thanks
