I'm planning on purchasing a new car, and I am 18 and wondering if I should go with:

Saturn Ion Redline
or
Mitsubishi Eclipse

Please state why you think one is better. No bs please.

Ion Redline from those choices - maybe look at an SRT-4 though. 3g Eclipses suck ass :dunno:

I'd choose the Saturn Ion Redline from your list.

My girlfriend had an Ion (not the redline) and it was a great little car. Comfy and reliable. Not much else to say about it. If it had more get up and go, I'm sure she would have kept it. But now she's into SUV's. Anyways, I'd look at the Dodge SRT-4 as 1badPT suggested - they look like a blast to drive.

I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but why are you only looking at new cars? I have had a couple friends finance brand new cars, saying that they want to be the very first owner and that it's great that it's under warranty. I told them both that they should consider slightly used cars (both wanted to get brand new civics and I said for that much money why not get an Integra) and now both wish that they had. You could save some money by buying a used car, and most likely nothing major will need replacing while a new car is under warranty anyways. But if you really want something new, get an RSX type S.

The Red Line is supposibly ass to drive, the gearing's all wrong and the product was rushed to showroom floors. Fit and Finish isn't there.

Offcourse I've never driven one, only going by what Sport Compact Car said. :D
