Porsche FrontEngineFest (944/951/928) Vancouver Cruise

Drove down to Vancouver on the weekend for the cruise. Lemme tell ya, it's great to cruise with a bunch of guys that regularly "drive" their cars, through insanely scenic and twisty routes in the middle of nowhere with zero traffic, zero cops, just a bunch of enthusiasts going for a spirited drive.

Route was from Surrey to Hope through the back roads, then north to hells gate and the loop around there. By far the best drive I've ever experienced.

After the cruise, we met up at MCL (vancouver Porsche dealership) for the 997 launch. Owner of a Carrera GT brought his car and showed it off. Even revved the motor a few times! :drool:

That subway (i think its the subway) picture looks awesome! The Carrera GT's not so bad either.

Looks like it was a good turnout! Hopefully next year my weekend will be free to attend.

Rage, did you give up on fitting the Gt-racing light covers? I like the new black wheels. Your car's what the bad guys should be driving in James bond movies.

even if you got pulled over, because its porsches the cops probably would have let you guys off lightly. if it was hondas i am sure it would be a different story.:D

You better make it next weekend! Only 2 cars made it from Alberta. There was a dude from Alaska, a bunch of cars from Seattle. Next year, guys from as far as Ohio wanna join after seeing pics of the route, so it'll be a crazy event! Think Gumball, but with all corners, and no straights, and no cops, and uhh, no exotics ;).

I'm waiting for a new set of GT-Racing covers. One of them flew off on glenmore, so I ran the car without 'em since then lol.

Thanks. And yea, mine was by far the most extensively modded. There were some supercharged 928's and 944's but both had problems and didn't make the trip. I had a lot of fun answering modding questions hehe.

Funny enough, I was following you and that guy who was driving with you pretty much all the way over the mountains. Lost you for a while when you stopped in Revelstoke, but you and that other guy went bootin' by as we we're coming out of Canmore.

That is one helluva sweet looking car you have. Looks like a fun cruise as well. If I owned a 944/951/928, I'd definitely come check it out.




P.S. Did you see that chain of like 5 vipers roll by? Something you don't see everyday...

I don't remember seeing a yellow one but I saw the blue GTS and the red one with the bra. There were a couple more as well. I couldn't see too clearly because it was after dark but they looked pretty spiffy going by.

I cant believe we made it back in 8 hrs of driving time in that weather. That standing water was a bit scary in some areas, not to mention the oversteer trying to pass people in the oncoming lane! :eek:

Haha Jesus, maybe I am glad I couldnt go. Seriously though I wish I could have made it out for that. It looks like a great time, I love that part of the country. The car is looking great to rage, the full black out is a huge improvement.
