Just finished rebuilding the engine in my 89 Mazda Mx-6, its a 2.2 Turbo, I can't get it to start & don't know why?

It turns over & fires a couple times but won't run, I've checked everything I can think of & can't figure it out

-Checked the timing
-its pumping fuel
-I've got spark, in the right firing order
-Compression is good

Anyone got any ideas as to what it could be??:dunno:

my guess is that it just needs some starter fluid....new engines usually dont start up the first time..., double check that the plugs are all on the right posts of the distributor.....thats all i can think of :dunno: .....good luck

check that the crank and cam sensors are plugged in fine. My car was doing the same thing after i slapped my new clutch in and i couldn't figure it out either but it turned out my cam sensor got damaged somehow

Thanks guys, I got it running, I had 2 wires reversed on the cap

I rebuilt it myself (my dad is a mechanic & helped me with it)

Cost?

Gaskets % seals $200+/-
Machine head $100

Also replaced rad hoses, drive shafts, belts, plugs, Wires

I havn't added eveything up, but it should run like new now:thumbsup:

do you get spark from the coil or spark from the actual plug wires?

but not starting does it just crank and crank with nothing, or is there sputtering and popping?

have you checked to see if there is fuel from the injectors or just the pump?

I checked the pump & injectors, & I obviously have a spark from the coil if I have a spark @ the plug

Doesn't matter anyways cause its running fine now:thumbsup:
