but what's really nice about that chip, is that you can overclock it with no problems to a 3200+ I've had my system for 7 or 8 months, and I've had it running at 3200+ the whole time. Never crashes! :D

(I ran some benchmarks to test the difference...I got a 20% performance increase!!!)

Man, I just did an online quote at Memory Express -- for the identical build (but with a 9600, instead of a 9500pro -- since the 9500s are now obselete).

Grande total w/ tax: $1476.01 for a NEW machine.

no idea how you got even that much, oemdepot has the same base system without the vid card and only 512 ram for 599. oh well like you said brand new and better vid card for cheaper :dunno:

For $599, this is what you get a at oem depot:
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ CPU & Fan
Asus A7V8X-X MotherBoard 8X AGP USB 2.0
6-channel digital Audio Sound 10/100 NIC
512Mb DDR333 Memory
Maxtor or WD 80 Gig ATA133 7200rpm Hard Drive
Toshiba 48X24X CDRW 16X DVD 48X CDRom Combo Drive
ATI 9200 128 Mb DDR SE Saphire Video Card
PS/2 Keyboard & MS Optical Mouse
Midtower Case 350 watts & front USB

The only thing similar between these computers is the CPU. The fan, motherboard, ram, hard drive, optical drive, video card, keyboard, mouse, case, power supply is all diffferent. Oh, and maybe a monitor too.

ATI Radeon 9500 Pro was purchased in intent to be softmodded to 9700. can be done at no extra cost if the buyer wanted. the reason it wasnt done was because of a lack of floppy drive. floppy drives cost like 10$.

Does not include an OEM OS as of yet.

hm....alright...just interested in the ati 9500. if your friend wants to part out in the near future...just send me a pm

if someone wanted to buy everything minus the vid card (as in they were going to upgrade vid cards themselves) then he would part it.

** NOT TRYING TO BE A JERK **

But man, I just sold an almost identical machine for a friend WITH a new Philips 19" flat CRT and real copy of XP PRO for $850 -- you will never get $850 for that thing.

Go look at Memory Express and compare, your asking MORE than retail price.

1200$ for everything, including 2 sets of beige speakers and a 6 in 1 card reader.

But man, BLA BLA BLA

** NOT TRYING TO BE A JERK.... **
but if this is the system you are talking about:
http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57034

lets see...
your HD is crappier.
your HSF is crappier.
your ram is crappier.
your drive is only a cdrw, no dvd. this one has dvd as well.
oh yea your case is pretty crappy too. antec > atx.
this one comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse.
this one comes with a decent vid card, AND the onboard one.

the only thing you have on this computer is that yours is 2600+. and your monitor is slightly bigger.

whoever bought that for 850 got ripped off.
this is a better deal period.

and now if you will, get out of my thread. thanks.

Yeah whoever did buy your system got totally ripped off. The same system now at MemEx is still less than $900 without the WinXP Pro OEm. We all know however that used software is worth $0 so I do feel sorry for that guy who bought your system that you supposedly payed $1400 for.

Other than that, if dj_honda, your friend is parting out, PM me.

From same thread:

yeah well, it's not a 9700pro, sorry. no way to make a 9500pro into a 9700pro. that it shows up like that is an "artifact" of flashing.
http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33681382&page=23&pp=30
(about 2/3 of the way down)

the thread discusses overclocking the 9500Pro, but not modding it to a 9700Pro. it just happens to show up as a 9700Pro after modding the BIOS to allow overclocking.

which isn't to say it won't overclock well, or anything. it just not actually softmodding to a 9700Pro.
