Hi all. Not sure if this will interest many here, but my car is up for sale right now.
here's the specs

If the car had lower k's i would really consider it, i love those cars! does it have a rebuilt tranny/engine or anything?:cool:

No, i just want my next car to preferably have low k's, under 150,000. Older cars with low k's are out there just harder to come by.

The car has 175ish on the block, 125,000K on the tranny, and the head has just been done on the car. One of the valve guides needs replacing again, so the car smokes a little, but the head should only have about 40,000K since when i did it 3 years ago.
Rebuilding things on the XR engine/tranny is damn cheap and easy. Plus it helps when I run the club in town and have practically all the parts that you'll ever need for the car.
Mustang T-5 tranny swaps are the most common things to be done as it is a cheap mod, very high reliability for the T5, and better gearing as well. Engine mods are easy to come by, and there's lots of interchangeable bits out there for the XR engine. If you want cheap fun power, then this car is a really good starting point.

Nope, never taken it out to the track. But on a cool night, it's about the same speed as a gen 5 prelude from second gear rolling start though 4th (approx 160kph).

the car's an 85. average it out over the years at 20K/yr and it should be at 340,000. So i must say that i'm doing pretty good at 175,000. Mind you there's numerous cars aged 1990's and above which have the same, if not higher, km's than my car.

Hey X, don't you hate it when people say you have too many kms? I mean what are they expecting for a 85? And its not like your car is an exotic that is barely driven lol

and yes, 175k for an 85 is nothing, you see tons of mid 90's in the 200k's...THATS HIGH

I'm not expecting low kms on a 17 year old car, it's just that 175 is a lot for a car that is a bitch to find parts for. Anyways, Mike says you have taken care of it so I trust that.
I just had some questions:
Do you have receipts and stuff?
When did you buy it?
stuff like that...
Maybe i'll just call you.
When is good for you? Some time Sunday?

I got most of the reciepts for the car, but there is a lot of misc stuff which I probably won't be able to find the reciepts for anymore. I'll PM you a list of everything that's on the car and the prices so you can verify it if you wish.
As for parts, I run the Merkur club in town here, and we are the only people who can get all parts for this car. Ford can't get 90% of the stuff because they don't even have decent knowledge on this car and just don't know where to find the stuff. The main person in our club has been working on Merkurs for the past 10 years and is more than competent to get one of these cars up and going. So I can honestly say that finding parts is actually a very small issue when buying a merkur.

You'll have to deal with the RIV (http://www.riv.ca) when bringing a car up to Canada. Unless it's a specialty model that's not available here but allowed, it's not worth the trouble.

Thats what I figure too - its probably much cheaper to get a car around here than to go through the trouble of having someone purchase the car for you who doesn't care what kind of quality you get, as long as they get their commission - and then dealing with freight (which is very expensive), and then with getting it over the border ...

Just go to BC or out east for cheaper vehicles or if you have the patience, just wait cause a good deal can show up at anytime!
My dad lives in the states and picked up my car for 2100 american, pretty damn good for the shape it was in! RIV just wanted me to have daytime running lights ($100) a child safety harness (free) and you pay 7% blue book value (like $200) and $100 for my ac...It ended up still being a much better deal than waiting for something up here!

I thought about it, but i'm pretty sure the rapido site doesn't have a merk for sale section for the public.
