depending on the interest and quantities, i have a friend who can hook up Tamiya R/C cars for alot cheaper then you would ever pay in hobby stores

he works for ZR auto (exotic car shop) which also sells these RC cars to the high rollers :bigpimp:

he just recently got a job there somehow, his job is to build the build it yourself kits at home, test them, and give them back to ZR auto to sell :D what a dream job hey? anyways he can get these for cheap so if you are interested let me know and we'll see what happens depending on supply and demand

check out www.tamiyausa.com for products

they probably only cary some of the models in stores, others will probably have to be ordered

GP_DrIvEr

yeah, this is only an estimate for the ELECTRIC ones but in stores (model land) they sell for $330+ not including tax, the price my friend can get them for will probably be around 220 maybe lower , 250 at the very most. (estimate)

he doesnt know the prices on the nitros yet,

there is alot of interest in these, and the amount my friend can hook up will probably be limited (at first), so when everything is set and figured out, watch for a new post, then it will be first come first serve

this is just an exampl but: lets say he can sell 5-10 now, there is still a long time till spring and if there is more interest, he will be able to buy more from his work before spring comes, so whoever doesnt get first serve in the first group buy, there is a good chance there will be another group buy

let me know if you are still interested with these prices

Are those prices with electronics, ie speed control, reciever? battery and charger?
I'm guessing not.

It depends on the kit. Some include them (all RTRs, some kits) and some don't.

hmmm i might be interested but i want a nitro!!! none of this slow battery powered shit for me!  :burnout:

i think it comes with battery, not sure about the charger, no remote control

if you want a RTR kit it comes with all that but RTR kits mean you loose the fun of building it yourself and cheaper parts are used :(

ill be able to find out the nitro prices by hopefully thursday

the electric ones w/ a new electric motor ($50), and some kind of better speed control will reach the same speeds as the stock nitro ones

infamous
11-19-2002, 07:45 PM
allright, now you have me thinking. how much are the nitro ones regularly? and the battery powered ones regularly?

GP_DrIvEr
11-19-2002, 08:00 PM
nitro ones sell at model land for $550 and up
electric ones sell at model land for $330 and up

i wanted an nitro one too but my friend talked me out of it because electrics are so much easier to maintain and cheaper, and can go just as fast with alot less money spent with the car and a new engine than a stock nitro one :D

So, if I want to build it myself I can't get a kit with any electronics? When you are able to find out, can you please give some more detail on the packages available?

Thanks very muchly.

GP_DrIvEr
11-19-2002, 08:17 PM
well you can get electronics, it just isnt included in the price

it comes with the speed control, i think it might come with the battery charger but i will find out for sure tomorow

i think the only thing it doesnt come with is a remote control, but the ones in stores dont even come with remote controls if they arent RTR

Ekliptix
11-19-2002, 08:23 PM
So if I have some parts like battery, radio and reciever but I need other parts with the car like a charger or maybe an esc can I get these thing through your friend for a better-then-store price?

Thanks

GP_DrIvEr
11-19-2002, 08:26 PM
ive been looking on the Tamiya website and it is a real pain in the ass to figure out exactly comes with the kits because it is not specific AT ALL!

my friend will have alot more information than the website, so i will write down all of your questions, ask him, and write down all of the answers, either way you will be saving at the very least $100 on the electric model than if you were to buy them in stores

*edit*

yes, everything that would come with a normal kit that you would buy in the store comes in these kits, everything that you would normally need to buy extra can be bought through my friend for a better than store price :)

if there is anyone out there that is in a really big hurry to get these or is desperate for one let me know, cuz right now im under the impression that spring is 6 months away, and if this takes about a few weeks or a month to go through no one will be disapointed? :dunno:
