Here's yet another insurance thread. I'm about to buy a car very soon and I need insurance. Where do you guys recommend going for cheap insurance?

I checked with directinsure.net but they don't insure people with less than 4 years experience. I also got a quote from TD for $2164. Where else should I check?

Go to http://www.kanetix.com It asks about four pages of questions, then gives you quotes from 4 or 5 companies.

It's actually quite accurate, I did it last week, and two of the quotes were within a hundred bucks of what I'm actually paying right now.

TD will be the best for you, they are by far the best for new drivers and young people.

That rate they gave you is very good!

I'm on TD, I pay 1938/yr

i pay 240 a month, base coverage (for now), 1 ticket on record. i am taking a def drivers course to get rid of those points so when i am re evaluated for the accident, the points won't be considered

How much is it through your family's plan?

Might want to see if they offer any discounts or such if the rest of your family is under them as well.

Given the value of the car that is being insured?

I mean, when the insurance is more than the price of the car, that is just insane dude

yea i am in the same boat as you....the reason they probably gave u 5400 is because ur parents wont be with the same company? at least thats what i found anyways.....u can always give trilagy a call, thats who i am goin thru....

the state farm discount is pretty good. I get discount off for being a good student and taking drivers Ed. But i still got quoted 1800/year min just to be legal to take it down the street. about 3200/year for a 20knish vechicle such as the toyota Matrix

Thats life man...insurance isnt a direct ratio to the value of your car...

thats wat i think too!! last time i asked for the quote, he said it just based on the value!!! he must be on crack.. then i asked him how much for a 93 dodge stealth and a 03' Matrix and they both came out 3200-3400! ( then i asked on a 00' jetta GLS, 3400..).. then he said it based on the value of the car, doesnt matter if its 2 drs or 4 drs...ha

When I asked a couple companies, they basically said, at my age (19-male) it doesn't really matter what car you drive, make, model, value. It'll be expensive.

haha same here man.. i was like.. wat about a 03'.. he starts shaking his head... 96... he shakes his head even more... so 93'... stealth? and he started laughing .. then he recommand me getting a 89 cav or something.. WTF do i look that poor to him

Age of the driver, years driver has had licence, any lapse in insurance, tickets, accidents, Rating of the car (Theft wise), and yes, 2 or 4 doors makes a diff, 67 bucks on my car apparantly,:(

good thing VW messed up on VIN Numbers on the 84 GLI's, they have them all coded as a 1.7L so I get away with having just "The Regular Model" and not the "Sport Edition"

it costs me 1500/year (19/male/1ticket/0accidents)
