There was this show on CBC, where people in Ontario were having their car stolen as a result of a loop hole in some system.
Thieves would get the license plate of the target car, and then go to some computerized system, and print off all this information about the car and the owner, and with this information they were able to get driver's licenses with the target's address, but with the thief's picture.

The thief would then proceed to the nearest dealership and get a new set of keys cut, and go steal the car.

I didn't see enough of the show to get specifics, so if anybody saw it and got the whole picture, I'd like to hear about it.

Although this isn't any different from seeing the car's plates on the street, some people would prefer to have a little bit more privacy.
