You volunteer to clean up the area.

Afew hours of work every year is a small price to pay for having the place to go wheeling:D

Waiparous Volunteer Days - September 18th, 2004

Where & When
Saturday September 18th, 2004. Meet at the Ghost Airstrip at 9:30 AM.

Directions
After passing through Cochrane on the 1A, you will be heading West. You will see a gas plant on your left and the turnoff to Waiparous is on your right. Turn right. Follow that road past the village of Waiparous and it will eventually turn into a gravel road. Keep to your right at the Y-intesection. Continue along the gravel road and you will pass a 'staging' area on your left. Continue still along the gravel road. Eventually you will start to see some camping areas well marked. As you pass them you will cross over a bridge with a creek below. Continue along and you will very quickly see a Gravel Pit area on your right. The Ghost Airstrip will be on your lefthand side very shortly after passing the gravel pit. You will need to make a left hand turn and drive over a cattleguard to enter the airstrip.

Details
There will be free camping for all volunteers at the Ghost Air Strip, as well as a complimentary BBQ! Bring your OHV and any tools you can pack along. Shovels, axes, chainsaws, hammers, etc. are all handy to have. Be sure to pack lots of water and come prepared with food and snacks while out on projects. Raffles and a 50/50 draw will also be held.

Prizes
We have a ton of awesome prizes up for grabs this year. Here's just a taste of what you could be taking home:

From JustWheelin.ca
An LG5450 Digital phone with colour screen and digital camera
From the Gear Center Group
A Detroit Locker for any application as well as other goodies. They will also be on site with a van for parts servicing and purchases.

From Tower Chrysler
A Warn 9.5 ti Thermometric Winch

From Superlift Suspension Systems
Two $250.00 USD gift certificates good for any of their lift systems

From Bell Mobility
A whole bunch of great stuff, including FRS units and some great coolers with am/fm radios!

The Mclean cleanup was early this year. They managed to pull out a truck, among other crap that people left behind.

If you 4X4 or not everyone should attend, alot of these areas are in danger of being closed, many already have so if you camp, hike, off-road have a quad, dirtbike or anything YOU SHOULD ATTEND!

It's a ton of fun.

It's also one of the largest volunteer trail maintenance/cleanup efforts in North America. A day of helping out on the various work projects goes along way in helping the AURS who of course represent us, the users.
