I just cleared off 2 major credit cards of debt now all i have left is my student loan to pay off. This will take me about 2ish yrs, but int he mean time im looking at test driving some new cars , i just want you guys to help me with a list :D

Im looking at about dishing out 25,000-35,000ish (willing to go as high as 40,000 as long as i get full options)

preferably something fully loaded and AT LEAST 140+ horsepower. 4 door, 2 door... doesnt really matter, prefer 2 door but if a 4 door looks sporty id like it...

any suggestions are welcome (new and old... preferably something with warranty so mostly looking at new cars)

thanks guys :)

not necessarily, i was looking at the saturn ion redline as a option...

i just figured it'll cost me way to much to get my car up to a decent speed. like $2000 to get 200ish HP when i could get a RSX-S with 210 HP and then turbo that

but yes, please toss out ideas (probably leaning more import cause i miss working on my integra, engine was SOOOO easy)

yes but then i thought about it today, i got paid 1500, and i paid off 2 major credit cars and put some serious thought into . do i really wanna spend upwards of 3 grand to make my car to my standards, or dedicate that 3g's to my student loan and then pay off my car in about 2 yrs and just get a new one?

besides aftermarket is crazy hard to find for my car so i figure id be more happy with nissan, honda, mazda etc

If you go new, and you're considering a Saturn Ion Redline, be sure you test drive a SRT-4 too. The staged upgrades are dead easy to install and in stock form you'll have more power than the Redline and you'll have a seperate warranty on your upgrades in addition to the warranty that covers the rest of the car.

Don't eliminate the option of going used either, in trade for a warranty you MIGHT use, you will DEFINITELY get more car for your money going this route, but you might not get exactly the options you're after - but it sounds like power is what you're after and new cars aren't the only thing that deliver that.

Figure out what you want first and then you'll be able to narrow it down to a few cars to choose from.

FWD vs RWD vs AWD?
All motor vs Supercharged vs Turbo?
Sedan vs coupe vs wagon?
etc...

GL - I'm gonna miss the beyonders picking on your Saturn man

Well I'm at a point where I'm going to be selling my car and getting either a 1990+ 300ZX TT (other than rebuilding the turbo I won't be doing much to it - its perfect as is :D) or a 1991-1994 240SX which I'll either do the SR swap or more likely turbo the stock engine since it seems to respond well to FI even though its not common (most do the SR swap).

RWD and 2 seats are what I'm after :D

If I were you, look at used 2000 & up BMW's. Plenty of second hand bimmers out there that are in immaculate condition, and there's tons around the $30-$40k mark. There are even quite a few 5 series in that price range as well. As for power, a lot more than your minimum 140hp.

In 2 years I'd pick up a slightly used 03-04 Cobra if I was looking for one of the best bang for my buck newish vehicles. Odds are it'd still have factory warranty left too. Probably Low 30K'ish. 390HP and 390 Torque. But it really boils down to your lifestyle cause sports cars are pretty limiting, but fun as hell.. :dunno:

i truley did think about a mustang but the gas alone would bury me into the ground

how do you find the mileage on your GT nick? pretty reasonable? cause i absolutly love stangs, just worried bout the gas

NickGT
09-11-2004, 07:44 AM
I can get just over 400kms on a tank of gas. A tank usually costs about 40 bucks. That's with good driving. The more you put your foot down, the faster you'll run out of gas naturally... It's a blast to drive though. I don't mind it, but then again, I don't do much driving other than to the GF's house which is like 10 minutes away. If you do alot of driving its probably better to get something slower, but with better gas mileage..

Man, 240's aren't just for drifting. Great platform in general for drag, auto-x, anything.

offcourse everyone will think you drift, unless you build the car up with a prostreet look. :poosie: MT e/t's, tubbed, wheelie bars, chute, the whole nine yards.

i love 240's, but since the drifting scene hit calgary its like $8000 for a 89 240 with 250,xxx kms and rusted to hell

wut about the new cobalt SS? If ur lookin 2 years down the road this car might b more reliable than past cavys and all the bugs will b ironed out of the new platform. similar to the ion redline

if your gonna spend 40g's look at the new Acura TL its amazing!

Out of those three, SRT-4 hands down. If your looking for power you cant go wrong and if you do the Mopar upgrades (wont void your warranty) you can get over 300 hp.

i got to drive an auto the otherday, it was the aero model (2.0L turbo)...

250 hp, 17" rims...

very responsive steering, great great suspension, peaky subaru engine, 4 dr and a gorgeous front end... a pretty neat little venture, the saab engineer who designed the suspension was hired onto subaru for further develoments.

kind of a cynical move; a wrx wagon in drag, but it has some noted differences. i wouldn't mind one, but i have an '85 16V turbo to restore first... ^_^

Its a car enthusiast forum, I don't see the problem with this thread or any others like it. Its an excuse to talk about new cars coming up on the market which is something a car enthusiast does... maybe he'll own one of these but it might take some time to get one - either way its a chance for everyone to chat about their favourite new car. No harm in that :dunno:

It's annoying because everyday it's the exact same thing

"Hey guys, what car should I buy? I want to spend $20K max and it has to be import, two doors etc. Hey buddy, check out www.canadatrader.com and do a search

These type of threads are all :repost: if you think about it.
And in this specific case, it's two years from now!

If I was a salesman and 403gemini came in, I would appreciate it if he told he wasn't planning to buy for two years so I can tell him to move along! LOL

No offense Dasdin but how do you fit into this?

Where is your car?

I admit there is a post every second day about have 20k to spend on a car but it's no worse than the "what mods should i put on my 1987 Lada posts"

I have to agree with MB, and no my opinion is not biased!

You know what cars you are interested in, why waste bandwidth over what car you are going to buy two years from now. I'd hope that you will have enough money to purchase a car when you are older anyways!

and AWD: the Echo 4-door sucks ass. I have one for a rental and I despise driving it. It looks like a flintstone car. THe Echo hatch is cute though, but safety wise? If I got rear-ended in that, I'd be a goner. :(

No one is forcing you to click on these new car theads and its not a waste of bandwidth if 15 different people are interested enough to post a reply(and I'm not counting the replies that criticize the existance of this thread...) The question may have been asked before, it will be asked again and if its that annoying, don't click on the threads - the threads always have titles that make it very clear what is being asked.

I don't think you've been here long enough to know how I got my user title. It was from flaming these thread starters into submission and eventually they stopped posting 'What car should I buy' and I'm back because there are just too many of these dam threads recently.
