I was looking at the new t3 turbo's, mostly made for top end, high hp mazda's. My friend has a old rx7 and he took out the engine to put in a a 320 chev engine or something, I told him not to because its not really an Rx anymore because rx stands for rotary expiriemental using a wankle engine. So now would the t3 fit on a domestic engine?

That's a pretty vauge description. What engine exactly where you thinking of mounting the turbo on? Also T3's come in a couple different sizes and trims, and again you have not elaborated on which T3 you are looking at. If it's a standard T3, it's .42/.48, but there are .60's and super 60's and of course the T3/T4 hybrids, the standard T3 turbo is always a .48 hot side.
Essentially you can mount any turbo on any engine as long as you have a manifold that is designed for it. Figureing out which turbo is right for you however is a different story. This usually involves reading compressor maps and deciding what characteristics you want your turbo engine to have.

T3's are not always .48 hot side, they come in a large variety of A/R's. If its a V8 he'll need two T3's.

A standard T3 is .48, I should have elaborated. Oops

Not necessarily, he could just run the turbo off one side like many Turbo V8 kits do or simply run a 2 into 1 collector and pipe that back ot the turbo. Problem with 2 into 1 though is that V8's have so much exaust gas that unless it's a huge turbo it will always be spooling.

no T3 will flow enough air for large V8 so 2 would be required or 1 large turbo

Which is why I said he'll need two T3's on a V8, but thanks for the tip

But don't a few of the 302 (mustang) single turbo use a T3 compressor and T4 Turbine? (for the one side) I'll check around again. I'm talkin mild turbo setups and since he has a (small) 320chev? that's not right...
