depends wut u wana do, the quality of it and all that.
if ur lookin at makin it fast, interior, exterior , entertainment, you will easily spend 20 g's on just the mods if u want it done rite.
IMO doing up teh exterior too much isnt worth the money, but to each his/her own.

some of you guys are crazy:burnout:

this is why i don't really customize. instead of putting turning an into a $53K money pit, I'd rather buy a 350Z or S2000.

not to say I don't respect what you are doing, i just would do other things with my money...

Eventually it will be up in the 30-50G range.. I'd rather put that much into my golf, and make it a "new" car, than own any new car it that price range

How much to customize a car? I don't even want to think about that. I throw my receipts in the garbage right away:rofl:

I'm at about $16g excluding original purchase price.

finboy
09-14-2004, 04:01 PM
over 10,000 including the $500 purchase price of the car.

if i did it the right way it would have cost me HALF that and i would have better parts, live and learn.

i'm looking at putting 10-15k in or so... initially, then maintenence to keep it going...

mostly engine + electronics, suspension, and a spartan interior with an average sound system. repaint and get a few new trim pieces. i've decided against the body kit, and i don't give a rat's ass about ICE, screens, neon lights etc... i've already removed the back bench and seatbelts, as well as 1 layer of floorpan sound insulation.

all about making a driver's car

i have to agree with Kid_a, i'd rather have my c900 (classic v.s. next generation) turbo than any new car on the market today... the fact that you simply can't buy them new anymore is an added reason... have a great starting point: a turbocharged, intercooled twin cam engine, so i'll take it from there... part restoration, part performance-tuning, part customization.

i dunno, a 300c looks DAMN tempting, but my car hasn't even come close to costing that much

you referring to the chysler 300c? that rehashed mercedes E class? pshaw :D

well i'd like a newer car of course, but not to replace the saab... if i could add to the stable, vauxhall, noble, lotus, & mercedes might pique my interest...

now how many of those can i get in north america?

$31XXX for the car...
$10XXX for upgrades

Btw, best experiances, were believe it or not my cheapest expenses:

- Shadow Tint, fucking great job for $320, matalic tint, never fade, never purp... Next car goes straight to that shop...

- That custom exhaust place right accross from Chinook LRT station, northbound, 55 bucks, loved the install...

Worst places ever:

- TireCraft, just terrible, ppl are rude, got the roof of my car keyed there

Great places, but expensive
- AudioConcepts, great work, great ppl, expensive ass...

- TunerWorks, I found the ppl there deece, didn't tell me bout a camber kit when I bought all my lowering stuff even after I asked if that was everything I needed... :nut: Bought a really nice exhaust there, very satisfied, got a ticket on the way home cause of the excitement.

- T&T Honda, good customer service, ppl there can't wash cars, I thought they were imcompetant...

- Glenmore Honda, never buy a car there period.

- HondaWest, best Honda dealer in town, bought a 2001 Prelude there, should have never switched to T&T

- Costco, Yep honestly, I've searched the entire city for good prices on preformance tires... They were the cheapest, and the best quality... Never buying tires anywhere else...

Regrets...
Should have bought 18" wheels

$1400 car, ~$8600 in mods...

cujo_cjc
09-14-2004, 09:40 PM
well i paid about $15 000 for the car
and so far ive put about 2g into it...in like 4 months..
prolly another 2g will be put into it
and then i'll prolly sell it and just get a car in a higher class

Bonka

$18,900 for the car

~$6,800 in mods..

- Lowering springs (prof. installed)
- Aftermarket struts (prof. installed)
- Front and rear clears
- Full bodykit (prof. paint, fitted)
- 19" wheels and tires
- Y-pipe exhaust pipe (not installed yet)

Cosmetic mods alone will pick away at you to death :banghead:

I figure to spend close to $20,000 (if not over) all said and done, including new paint respray :thumbsdow

That's ok though..I'm going to be buried in my car

I'm too young to be dropping unreal amounts of cash into cars.

Like a few people said it's not an investment. Unfortunatly I'll have to wait until I can afford something that is worth modifying.

S2000 here I come;)
