If you guy's are wondering about the round neon thing on my desktop.... is a volume control. Not included. Also my Macally Qball mouse is not included. I paid $90 bucks for that mouse. And the volume control thing cost me $70 bucks. But if you guy's are interested in them i might part with them.

This system brand new cost me close to 5 grand when i first bought it. It is very nice computer for family use. If your into games don't look at this. Not a gaming machine. But works great with QuarkExpress, Photoshop, microsoft office, imovie.

i also make lot of home family videos with this machine. So it still has some life in it. There are also lot of Chip upgrades for this B&W from Sonnet and powerlogix. For around $300-$400 you can turn this into a G4 or a faster G3 to run the latest games.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I bought a similarly spec'd machine (minus the monitors) for $375 last year... Mine was a 450mhz with the UltraSCSI HD... But come on man...

But come on dude... More in the 800-900 neighborhood is still pushing it, but a lot more reasonable... i could buy that machine, those monitors, and those speakers off of ebay, pay shipping on everything, and still come out under $900. I'm not making you an offer, as I have one of these maxed out (G4 upgrade, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, DVD-/+RW, etc), but i don't like to see people overvalue old powermacs...

Marketplace Rules (strictly enforced)

Do not post if you have no intention of buying the item at the time of your post
If your see a price that's too high, don't go and bitch out the seller. The thread will die eventually because nobody would want to buy 'em.

Totally depends what you're doing... Certain applications are optimized for processors with the altivec engine (G4's really, and G5's emulate the altivec), like any of the adobe apps... If you do pick this up, I would highly recommend buying a G4 processor upgrade for it as well... I have a Sonnet Encore G4/500, and it makes a world of difference from the G3/450 that was in there before... Even in apps that aren't specifically altivec-enabled.

Unfortunately, the 300mhz model has only a 512k L2 cache... the 350, 400, and 450 have a 1MB cache... But any processor upgrades that you would/could install in here would give you the 1MB L2...

I'd say this machine's processor, at the 400mhz it's running at right now, compares, in most day-to-day activities, directly to a Pentium 3/800-900mhz. Keep in mind, however, the memory is upgraded, the hard drives are upgraded... Speaking of hard drives, also look into an ATA/100 or ATA/133 PCI card... they're cheap, and make a huge difference with transfer speeds, response times, and performance in general...

At least make him an offer though... You won't be disappointed in a mac... I've never owned a windows machine in my life... And I have 6 computers in use in my house right now...
