I have had a rockford 301S for some time now. Just yesterday when I was messing with the hZ it cut out about 30 minutes later and she was hotter than a bitch. It worked again this morning but cut out a few minutes later. Could this be a problem I could fix by soldering or is the amp trash? This is a good excuse to get that new JBL amp :)

If was too hot maybe you have shorted it out somewhere, so it went into thermal protect, but then it probably would have shut off right away... if it was too hot but ran fine before you must have changed something that would make it break. If I knew what the hZ was I might be able to help you :) maybe you have your gains too high and it is clipping and then going into protection because clipping will overheat your amps.

I had the hz turned all the way down. I also have my remote cable split(one to 6x9 other to sub amps). When I would turn down the volume all the way it would make a loud pop noise through my 6x9's even when the 301s was off. It was kind of like your ear popping.
