Hi,

I'm looking for a job right now and just wondering what positions of jobs does wal-mart, safeway, superstore have??

Anything besides cashier is great.

service clerks mostly like stocking shelves or carrying groceries. pretty much any department that they have really. I definately wouldn't work at the NW superstore :thumbsdow

I stocked shelves for a year at Co-Op.. most of my shifts were from the 6pm to 10pm or 1:30pm to 10pm.. very seldom will i get a shift in the morning because the orders don't come in until 1pm anyways.. it might be different for other stores though..

I'm gonna apply for wal-mart or safeway to stock shelves. Will this time be good?? Wednesday 8am - 12

Friday 4pm - 10 pm (or whenever the store closes)
Saturday 8am (or whenever store opens) - 3pm

You think those time are good?? Or do u guys have any suggestion for times that would be good on friday and saturday?

Thanks

well it's a good schedule that you don't have to work nights (facing stores is the worst part of the job).. and if it fits your schedule then yeah i think it's good. I would try and get morning shifts because the orders usually come in the afternoon.. so you can do the order till 6pm or so, and leave.. while the rest of them have to finish up the order, face the store and leave..

facing the store sucks...

but then again, this was Co-Op, i'm not sure if the process is the same with where ever you're applying.

yes.. depending on how busy your store is though.. the store i worked at wasn't a busy store, so the orders were small.. some of the busier stores you'll be shelving 60-80 cases an hour.. where I was, we got away with about 40 cases an hour..

after the order's done, then you start facing.. and yeah, no one enjoys that part of the job..

you go to a grocery store, and you notice how all the cans and boxes are at the edge every morning so it looks like all the products are full?

well as a grocery clerk, you have to make sure all the aisles are like that every night before you close, so it makes the store look like all the products are "full"..

so when you face say the canned soup aisle, you grab the cans of soup, move them up to the front of the ledge so it gives the effect that the soup orders are filled. You also have to turn each can of soup so the label with the description is facing outwards, not the UPC, not the French side.

you get what i'm saying? it's tedious and the worst part of being a grocery clerk.

who knows it might be different at safeway and walmart, where they'll have other people doing that for you.
