I'd like to see what some of your opinions are of the bars on 17th Ave SW. By bars, I mean places like Classic Jacks, Bungalow, Ming, Melrose, etc.

Classic Jack's is good

I've heard good stuff about "red" or "rbm *right by mcdonalds* or "no name"...apparently its just some red looking building where you can go chill?

Melrose is nasty.

I want to check out "shaken"

I like Ming, good atmosphere and usually pretty nice place to sit, and have some drinks. Problem is, the place is usually freakishly busy an pretty expensive.

I love Ming's. The food isn't bad and the atmosphere is cozy. Great place to bring a date/gf for drinks and a snack. And yeah the drinks are expensive but usually they are doubles making the drinks a lot more stiff than other places and hence the pricing. As for my favourite drink there, so girly but so good...is called the "Kahuna Manifesto", make sure you get it in the fish bowl sized cup. Fantastic drink that has 10+ shots of different liquor in it (something around that). mmmmmmmmmm

Noname is also refered to as RBM (Right beside Mcdonalds) or the Red bar.. it does cause for a lot of confusion when you're trying to figure out where you're meeting someone

Hey, does anyone know the place across from Moxie's? The name escapes me, but it seems like a pub and the sign says they have 40 (or some high number) kinds of beer.

And yes, Melrose sucks.

Funny noone mentioned the Ship yet. I like it, but I stopped going since I can never get a table.

The name of the bar across from moxie's is 1410. I think its the adress. Anyways, it's got the best service i've ever had at a bar, awesome selection of different beers, too.

1410 Beer Market is one of the better places on 17th I've been to. Everytime I go there they're always friendly and prompt....food is pretty decent there too.
